Little UKG tune I just finished, the instrumentation is sampled from the LA Noire soundtrack so don't give me any credit there haha. Let us know what you think

you produced this tune yeah? (didn't know you were a producer lol) nice work getting your rhythms to ride those samples. one of the better tunes i've heard around here in a while.
the following criticisms some with a solid IMO stamped on them.
- bit too much verb on some of your percussive elements and your snare needs to stand out just a wee bit more.
- i reckon you could squeeze a bit more swing in there, but don't push it too much.
- if i had written this i would approach the breakdown by applying a low pass filter to the main samples so you still have that rich bass while giving everyone a break from the brass.
- alternatively i probably would have played along with the bass part with a simple bass synth (sine/triangle ting), even written more of a bassline on top.

Haha yeah man it's me, I've been producing since 2009 with a big break for pretty much all of last year. All the beats on my Soundcloud are from this year and pretty much show my progression from when I started to take it more seriously around January. Thanks for the kind words!Shum wrote:you produced this tune yeah? As for the criticisms I definitely agree with the reverb comment, I lowered it a bit during mixing but with further listening I can tell it wasn't quite enough. I don't really want to risk messing up up the organic feel of the track by adding a synth mid-bass, I guess I'm not really confident that I could make it fit in. I'll try the breakdown idea now though, I like the sound of that
