It's still unclear as to what really happened last night, but there were certainly too many people at the festival.

Most accurate write-up I've seen so far: http://www.factmag.com/2012/07/07/bloc- ... ive-plans/

I was only supposed to have a 1 day guest pass and wound up with a 2 day pass and a press pass :o

I saw two instances of groups of people sneaking in. Saw several attempts to rush the gates at the boat. It was chaos at points, and security was clearly frustrated and exhausted. The accreditation entry (gate 1) had a massive queue of artists and only one guy getting people through. Artist vehicles/buses had an even more miserable time getting through.

Beyond the problems of over-crowding and getting people and artists in the venue, there were serious technical glitches all over the place. Mala and Coki came onstage to a broken deck and had to wait for the crew to set up a new table. Sound system was proper though.

The Carrhart dome (where Joker was supposed to play) on the other hand had perhaps the worst sound I've heard in the dozen shows I've seen in London in the past month. There were nothing but crowd fills (1 way full range monitors on the edge of the stage, pointed at the crowd) and four speakers over the stage -- no bass bins at all. It was hilariously quiet. I could speak at a normal volume and communicate quite clearly anywhere in the venue. Mosca went on at 11 and played until around 2 -- the only reason this venue didn't get shut down was because the stage manager's radio was broken and security was able to reasonably maintain the entrances (though I did see a fire exit get rushed and a security member got thrown to the ground).

Tried to make my way back on the boat after everything had been shut down, but police were already enforcing a rolling barricade at that point. A couple guys climbed up on top of shipping containers and some tribal drumming shit broke out -- people were banging on the containers with their hands and sticks.

It was quite tame though, no rioting or anything like that. People were certainly disappointed, but I think the closure was dealt with pretty reasonably.

I just hope this doesn't fill up with non Bloc goers and leaves the Bloc ticket holders stranded in the rain again, that would be a kick in the teeth

london pleasure gardens is the most poorly managed pile of shit in existence. bun crowdsurge aswell.

however, after a long, hard day of getting fucked, we went to relax & enjoy a few biftas after shackleton (saw the tonk queue for the boat & lowed it) over by silo d, looked across the water to see shit loads of police and everyone leaving the site while we continued chilling & drinking beers till nearly 3. quite funny really.

if you're a londoner and you managed to catch an act or two and chill around the area and are getting a refund, you've not really lost anything. It's to the people travelling from abroad that i feel for the most here

Well, it's fucking terrible if you trekked there from abroad, but to say you haven't lost anything if you're a Londoner is bollocks.

Why ever have a festival where you get noise pollution stnuc coming down to regulate?

RA Hub was quiet as fuck, they didn't have any of the speakers past half way on at all.

from the ra comments on it - 'Want to see what contributed to last night's problems...?

How about unencrypted bar codes, keeping adding increments of 1 and you could print as many tickets as you like.
www.crowdsurge.com/et-TicketBarcodeBig.php?code=847042
What a shambles. What a shame.'

but yeah, i had a pretty decent afternoon to be fair, chilling on top deck of the boat for a bit, in the laderaum till quarter to eight, over to hub for nico, then a barely audible blim in the dome proceeded to hotbox those secret toilets next to the dome then shackleton.

big up the £45 taxi back to wimbledon after.

Worst experience of my life.

Constant queing, never got on the stubnitz, soundsystems were fucking terrible (ceephax acid waltzers speakers were actually funny).

Big up Mosca though, he played for hours.

New statement from Bloc
“We are currently gathering information about Friday night’s events.

We are also working to ensure that everyone will be refunded for their tickets.

Please bear with us while we do this.

Thanks to all of you, as well as the many artists and crew who travelled across the world to come to Bloc – we are so sorry that we couldn’t deliver the experience we had planned.

And thanks so much to the event control, security, stewards, police and public who worked together to ensure that no one came to harm during the peaceful evacuation.

This is far and away the most important result of the night.

For those of you who are frustrated and angry – we hear you. For those sending love and support – thank you.

More news soon.

The Bloc team x”

Out to The Warriors crew. :Q: :w:

HAHA!! I totally forgot about that, "warriorssss, come out to playeeee". Can anyone fill me in on the rest of that walk? All I can remember is warriors, doing a pretty serious mouth vomit, hugging Simon a lot and sticking my head out of the cab window like a dog. Felt good by the way :h:

Shame about bloc, enjoyed the stuff I saw though and there were a lot of funny moments taking the piss with you lot, also ain't been that high in a while man, sweet cotch back at murky's as always.

Police have issued a statement saying the festival was in fact cancelled due to rain, rather than overcrowding and over-ticketing (as we first thought yesterday) according to the NME.

The Metropolitan Police have said in their statement:

"The problem stemmed from rain, and people hiding under cover during the showers, creating huge 'pinch-points'. [This created the issues], rather than any over-ticketing."

It has also been confirmed by the authorities that there were no injuries or fatalities reported at the site, despite rumours that have been floating about.

what a complete fucking disaster, words cannot describe how the festival went from bad to worse in literally hours, complete waste of time and effort, really disappointed and want a fucking refund.
