Tune from when i was a nipper.

I paid £40 to get this on vinyl then found a shop that had a load of white labels for £5 each

heh i'll take most of the old stuff people used to call clownstep to most modern jump up and that drumstep crap
i absolutely love twisted, finally got to open for him and meet him when he came here awhile back (and he remembered i did a mix of all his tunes i got a ton of flack for back in the day on DOA)

pretty much, except the disparity between brostep and dubstep is much, much greater than between clownstep and dnb
I think that's because DnB appreciates subgenres and dubstep just wouldn't. Honestly, Liquid Funk/Mirco Funk/Techstep etc heads hate this stuff as much as anyone here hates brostep, they just find it easier to avoid because they follow subgenre tags, it's all dnb...

heh you must not have been around for clownstep in it's heyday then, it was despised as much if not more by "scene purists"

I guess not. I got into dnb around 2006/2007, And liked all things. My comment is in reference to what I've seen since 2009 I guess. If there's a specific kind of dnb you don't like, it's not very difficult to avoid tbh, and I think that has a lot to do with the use of subgenre tags

not really it's more that the bandwagon fans/producers fucked off to other scenes and brought their tired bullshit to em *cough* dubstep *cough*

I don't think you really get what I'm getting at, and for that matter, it feels like you're just trying to be "mr. right" about it all, really it doesn't matter. All I was saying is that it's easy to find what you like and avoid what you dislike because of the tags that come with the music.
Even subtleties in the tags make a difference, for instance, if you like old Alix Perez, or Random Movement, even old Nu:tone stuff, but hate the majority of stuff coming out of let's say hospital records today, searching on the internet for "liquid funk" as opposed to just "liquid" makes a difference. All I'm saying is that that kind of functionality allows people to get what they want with ease, not having to wade through the same shit you would get if you liked Mala & Coki, but hated Skrillex and hit google with "dubstep".

What you're saying doesn't even negate or cancel out what I'm saying.

How is Mr Happy not in this thread yet

Also yes "clownstep" was definitely hated by purists, I think that's how DOA got its reputation as hate machine

no i get what you're saying as there are already all these subgenres in dubstep as is, which is pretty sad considering the scene hasn't been around nearly as long before all these divisions and purist bs
no one is saying there isn't
what i'm saying is there was a massive scene divide at the time the same as now in dubstep regardless of there being subgenres within the genre
that's why names like clownstep and brostep come from
and why the guys who liked jump up hung out at dnba vs doa as an example from the net
