Re: future dubstep
Well I loved it. Not sure what it has to do with dubstep (nothing), but there is a dub mentality in this type of avant garde music for sure.
Thanks for the link.

Re: future dubstep
I'm afraid I'm a little confused on what's going on here. So the video is or isn't malware? Is it safe to listen to or not?
Playing the brain game.
Re: future dubstep
Perhaps the post was edited before I got here, but the video was free from malware and very nice. Just a link (no embed): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk86s3v-iLA
Very cool stuff
In composing this piece, which dates from 1962, the author resorted to the experience of using one single sound source: the voice, which is habitually treated with instrumental support.

Re: future dubstep
okay, to be serious - it has nothing to do with dubstep at all, but for me it has a lot to do with inspiration and respect for the pioneers of electronic music and their approach to create music in a very different direction, away from the trodden paths.wormcode wrote:Well I loved it. the reason for setting the title to "future dubstep" (besides that it's a joke) is that i wish there would be perspectives like this in the future of electronic music and especially dubstep. this bass and space thing, was a nice idea i say and still has a lot of potential.
when it comes to think about sound and sound design there are a lot of possibilities to proceed from where we are now. the aim is to not get stuck in simple rhythmical patterns, similar sounds and the violence of sensation (which is mid-range bass for me). like the electroacoustic composers anyone could translate ideas, things, nature and whatever into sound.
just my 2 cents.
Re: future dubstep
Yeah I get you man. That's what I meant about the dub mentality. That 60s and 70s approach of space and weight, tunes made from feeling things out instead of over-thinking everything.
Re: future dubstep
hehe me I met him in real there is few years for a little meeting of acousmatic musician, he is really old now between 80 and 90 but still alive

francis dhomont was in my hometown last year to interpretate some of his works on an acousmonium. awesome experience.
more over-thinking may be good. i like to hear some intelligence in music.wormcode wrote:Yeah I get you man. That's what I meant about the dub mentality. That 60s and 70s approach of space and weight, tunes made from feeling things out instead of over-thinking everything.

Re: future dubstep
Intelligence sure, but tweaking a synth patch for days is more what I meant about over-thinking... trying to make the craziest sound type thing.Samādhi wrote:more over-thinking may be good. i like to hear some intelligence in music.wormcode wrote:Yeah I get you man.
