Four - Sewage Canal (Deep/Chill)
Deep, spacey Dubstep.
Enjoy!
I don't have any many means of monitoring bass so I'm not sure if I should take the bass down a bit.

EDIT:
Due to re-uploading several times this isn't the WIP version, but it is the finished version.

Re: Four - Sewage Canal (Deep/Chill)
I like the buildup, tho you might add something to it. Drop is nice, the sub is OK/good. Distinct. It does dominate a bit... I dunno, polish the tune a bit more and then have a proper Engineer master it.
Second drop is nice, getting a bit repetitive tho. Maybe that's par for the genre I guess? I can't make out what the vocals are saying by about 2:40. Nice at about 3:20... the "flatline" sound and then another drop into just one kick.
3:54 came in nicely. I enjoyed it.

My sub-woofer recently enrolled in a self-help group. "Coping with dubstep"—I think it has PTSD, at this point...

I'll try to polish it as much as I can.

I think your bassdrum deserves a little more space in the mix man

So, maybe a little reverb and increase the level a bit?5910 wrote:I think your bassdrum deserves a little more space in the mix man

Think he's referring to the clash in frequencies between the kick and the sub. EQ/sidechain compression/sample choice can help sort you out.Sewage Canal wrote:So, maybe a little reverb and increase the level a bit?5910 wrote:I think your bassdrum deserves a little more space in the mix man

This. It isn't punching hard enough through the sub imo. Just turn the sub down, and boost between 70hz and 110hz on the bassdrumaudioterminal wrote:Think he's referring to the clash in frequencies between the kick and the sub. Re: Four - Sewage Canal (Deep/Chill)
Agree with the points made above concerning the kick. Apart from that, I like the tune overall, the bass gives it a lot of power and it would be ideal for a club/on a system. Good sounds used in the background too.
Re: Four - Sewage Canal (Deep/Chill)
The biggest thing for me seems a lack of artistic direction (whether or not intentional)
It seems you have a very laidback / musical type thing which is just looking to plod along but then some elements are not wanting to be there. (kinda like a speed head in a room full of stoners
) which way are you aiming for? is it for a clubfloor? or something to chill out to on a sunday afternoon? once you realise what you want A/B it with other tracks of a similar style and work out what is missing.

Thanks for the feedback, that's definitely gonna help a lot in future.outbound wrote:The biggest thing for me seems a lack of artistic direction (whether or not intentional)

Yeah, I just kept adding stuff and adding stuff, I didn't have much of an idea about what it was supposed to be for. There isn't much I can do about that though without making a new track so I guess I'll just work on it as much as possible to make it sounds as good as it can and then I'll call it a day with this.
Re: Four - Sewage Canal (Deep/Chill)
Ok, so I have polished it to the best of my ability and I think it sounds as good as it possibly can. I think it's time to call it quits for this one so I can start on some others.
Thanks for all the feedback!
