that's kind of what i wanted to say with my question. and i think it's more about if you feel a tune and not about rhythmic structure etc. most of the stuff some of my friends consider as extremely danceable make me end up at the bar right away.
Yeah a nice dance structure helps a lot but if a tune just hits you right, you'll naturally do something. Heard "Fill Your Coffee" the other night and never imagined it to make me move on a system, but that's a tune and a half for me and it had me groovin. Prolly didn't look too good though haha

What about skanking? Noting wrong with going mental on a tune if you ask me.

no one said there was anything wrong with going mental on a tune, it just doesn't define the set of dancefloor tunes

I know, last page seemed like going mental at a tune was a bad thing.

Buy limited vinyl > rip > leak...
Sure, it won't sound as good, and you can't play it out (at least not if you got half a brain), but for home listening or whatever I guess it's ok.
What would be wrong with playing a ltd vinyl you've purchased and ripped in a set if you play Serato and don't wanna take extra vinyl with you?
This. Nothing wrong with playing vinyl rips out, if you own the vinyl, in my opinion.
Not everyone wants to lug vinyl around with them with the risk of it being damaged or stolen, or just not paying properly due to shit decks.
Maybe there will be some trainspotter nerd there, watching the DJ's every move, who's like "this only came out on vinyl, it shouldn't be played digitally!" (while no-one else gives a fuck), but nobody should care about that guy.

This is my opinion on the whole Coki CDJ thing (obviously). Firstly, it's not like it's a major switch (or a big deal, in my opinion; as long as he is still making good tunes, I'm fine with it all). As I am sure an innumerable amount of people have said already, Coki is predominantly a producer, not a DJ. Also, at many clubnights Vinyl is impractical. I would assert that Coki made the switch due to logistical reasons.

CDJs will likely be replaced with laptops or things that use USB or small external hard drives. All hold digital but hold so much more data. Its only a matter of time before CD is scrapped and its just a deck with a usb port or something similar. I'm not saying this will ever happen or will happen soon, I'm just saying you'll definitely see the death of CDJs before you see the death of vinyls and turntables.
Yeah, I just got a couple of CDJs with USB ports. Flash drives are awesome and hold a shit ton more than CD's (and they don't skip). The model I have is pretty fresh for jumping through folders, etc.

Coki acknowledge that he can play a cd if he want to, and spawns a discussion on the definition of "dancable". Interesting!
