Saw the favourite games topic and got me thinkin back in the early days.

My first computer was a Commodore64, then a commodore128, Ibm 486sx 33hz, Pentium133, Athlon750 and my current compuder is an Athlon3200...

I have only ever really owned three computers..

1. Slide rule

2. Sinclair ZX81 + extra 2x 16kb memory (!) now a frisbee

3. Atari 1040STE bought in 1993....in use and still working faithfully every day!

looking to buy a MAC (any offers of sale?)

haha yeah, super geek!

First off was a Sinclair ZX Spectrum then...
Commodore Amiga
Then from 91 it was Macs all the way 'cos I work in graphics.

Still running G4 dual for tunes and have G4 Powerbook. Want a G5 but gonna wait another year at least.
I usually wait at least 3 years between comps so when I get the new one there's a huge difference. Also saves spunking cash that is better of elsewhere.

First comp was an Amiga 1500 i think..

Then some crusty shit peice PC

Then a Dell pc which we still have today, suped it up to 3ghz, 1gb ram and a decent graphics card inside it but thats rotting in my mums room.

I have a toshiba laptop which I have had for about a year and a half - i got a laptop so i can jam in the garden when its sunny and inside when its cold, 1.4ghz, 1gb ram, 128mb gfx card - only 40gb hdd but we have network storage.

Bro has some wastegash PC that makes a loud whiiiirrrrin sound..


Lookin to upgrade though - to another laptop

then onto bigger bro amiga 100 or somthing

then had some poo pc but i wasnt really interested then (girls)

then later on in life after console etc i got athlon xp 2500+

then amd 64 3200 venice

now opteron 146 overclocking machine

next hmmmmmm c2d i think they got some sick cheap chips out and about now

hmmm, let me see if I can remember.

-Texas instruments TI-99 with voice modulator. good stuff.
-286 generic... thing. I cant remember much about this comp other than it was dos based and didnt even have a VGA card.
-486 generic. this one had windows 3.11 I believe.
-pentuim I with windows 95
-pentuim III I built myself
-Pentuim 4 I built myself
-Alienware Laptop with 3.2ghz pentuim 4 <--- superbadass for the time
-Macbook, black
-Imac 24"

then i think we went straight to a 386 maybe after something else i cant recall.
then a 486SX/33
pentium something or other.
pentium II (which my mum was still using up until last year, lasted a good 10 years!)
pentium III which was the first machine i bought myself in 2000. cost a fortune. like $3k. still use it for squid proxy.
Some AMD slot cpu for a bit.
Athlon XP 1600+
Athlon64 3000+ which im on now. been holding off upgrading for ages. gunna wait till crysis comes out and go super beefy mega ultra dual core SLI etc.

also had several lappys in amongst all that. now have a toshiba tecra m2 pilfered from work and a 17" imac g5 too.

nah for me it was strictly bootleg arcade games and writing little graphics programs in basic.

compaq evo pent 4 laptop curently

hopefully geting an upgrade by the end of the year.

and ill be getting one of these for free this week sometime if all goes as planned (school is getting rid of them!):
SGI Visualization 540s. couple gigs of ram, quad 550 Xeons (though might be ale to scrounge up some 733s). Fiberchannel controller, rca ins/outs for audio, svideo&composite video in/out, firewire&usb, network card. They currently have either NT4 or Win2k installed..

only two amiga owners? so sad :( bigup the deluxe galaga & octamed kru

i started with a hand me down amstrad from my aunt at aged 6-7
then an A500, A600, CD32 (anyone remember this??), A1200
then numerous homebuilt overclocked PC's including 2/486, a 300 celeron OC'd to shit, duallie athlon mp etc etc
