FUCK THE MEDIA. Gaddafi was a don.

Post by Carljnrendora » Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:04 am

I never followed the Libya invasion when it happened but just watched this

Now I'm upset I've been so blind.

Then I looked on the news and saw this

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-18595884

But then read this!

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php? ... &aid=31310

and watch this

FUCK THE MEDIA. STAY AWAY FROM SYRIA.

rant over

Yeah I would love to hear what you're views are! I'm open to everything man. It's just when I see things like this then I doubt a lot of the things that the news are showing me. Would be great to hear a different point of view other than these media sources!

not having a go at you op, but isn't saying fuck the media and linking to a bbc video to prove your point slightly shooting yourself in the foot ?

and regarding what you say, didnt watch all the vids you posted, but while the justification for the intervention in lybia as it was presented in western media was shady at best, and while it is also true that qaddafi did some positive things for his country (then again same could be said with hitler and post first war germany so...yeah), nothing is just black or white...

I see that video as a method of the BBC trying to show us 'ignorant' syrians. What I believe I actually see is Syrian's who have good reason to be angry at the BBC. Either way I have no idea if it was shown on. But it is still worth reading things that they put up. Otherwise you become a biased tnuc.

Also the good that qadaffi brought is completely in Black and White. It's the bad that he brought which is mostly speculation.

Also I'm not saying any of these sources are the truth. But open up your minds! Question things! It's good to.

watching all sorts of media (from al jazeera to bbc), reading different views from human rights organisations to the local newspaper and talking to the actual people it seems more than clear, that this tnuc-dictator is just the same as his father.
someone who won't leave.

in aleppo, which is the second most populated city in syria it's more or less nonviolent. but loads of mass demonstrations. people are fed up!
i have been a lot of times in syria and people actually hate the system, the president and the people who rule it (most of them somehow related to assads family or ''tribe''). since more than 60 years the syrian people live in fear of the secret service - you cannot talk. my relatives are even scared to write something in skype or say something on the phone against the president. but things are obvious.

i'm strictly against foreign military action. just look at all the other countries where others started stirring up things. always a disaster - not even to talk about what they expect of that very country. (the usa would probably love to have a strategic base in syria).

things are completely messy in syria but the people have to fight it from inside or it will never be successful.

In the same way you can't believe the traditional news sources 100%, you can't watch a bunch of videos on fucking youtube and think you know where it's at.

Ridiculous.

I agree with all of this. I was tentatively for intervention in Libya, but only because a great deal of Libyans as well as the Arab League and the African League of Nations were asking us to intervene. One of the few bits of military action since Kosovo that I've actually been in favour of. It's outcome hasn't been anywhere near "clean cut" but it's been a much better adventure than Iraq or Afghanistan.

Unless there's an obvious "side" to back in Syria, we'd risk causing even more chaos and galvanising patriotism against us rather than against Assad... if we can in any way help facilitate grassroots revolution/rebellion we should, but we definitely shouldn't be doing it through the medium of bombs.

Ninjas should be careful not to accept alternative theories just because they're alternative. Dictatorships are, generally, a pretty bad thing and almost always run in their own interests rather than any real notion of "the nation's interests". Sure, it's impossible to run a country for several decades and not have some success stories - "even Mussolini made the trains run on time", but they're not terribly relevant to anything whatsoever. When looking at leadership, it's not the good bits that are important - it's the bad. You could be a paragon of virtue for your entire life, but if you drop shells on peaceful protesters (Gadaffi) or arrest doctors trying to treat protesters you've shot in the head (Syria, Bahrain) then you deserve taking out.

Gaddafi's brother came out here making business deals, buying buildings
reported luxury cruising the Great Barrier Reef with sex workers
didn't impress me as gubernatorial nor beyond corruption.
Sure, his brother's not his keeper but it appears he was his fence.

Regarding Syria I'm more concerned by the UN's "as long as I don't touch it it won't blow in my face" shameful behavior.

Regarding Gaddafi, what he did was unacceptable no matter how good of a ruler he was in the past
