It seems like a bit of an effort though...

We should probably get this thread back on topic.

Reaper is excellent and you can download a whack of freeware vsts that are as good as bought vsts.
Making an argument for pirating software when a wealth of free software is out there is lame.
And then saying Reason gets your money because it can't be cracked???? wtf??

Probably because nobody tries to crack it since it's shareware.

If you torrent DAWs, then do it, your not stealing from me, but do not talk about it here. And i'm not saying torrenting is right thing to do.
If you choose to torrent, download the DAWs you think you might like, try them out and buy the one you did find suitable for you.

I use Reaper for simple playback tasks on my internet PC whilst casually checking it out. I hear MIDI is not as hot as the big players i.e. Logic and Cubase
these are the dons of the MIDI arena. It seems like it has a promising future ahead of it if it can sort out the MIDI editing, nice audio features and great software/business model/update philosophy.

cheers
SafeandSound Mastering : PMC IB1S, MANLEY Massive Passive (Hardware), Summit Audio DCL-200, HCL Varis Vari Mu, Custom stereo linked 5 band mastering EQ.
