shouts to the two people that gave feedback lol
@almostskate100 Thank you for the feedback, yea I definitely feel you on the kick part it is lacking. I always seem to have trouble getting the kick right in terms of fatness and a good place in the mixdown. I also agree with the rest of your advice and will be working to come up with something
@lowphat Thank you for the feedback, going to lower the hats and what not lower to reduce all the high frequencies. I usually chop 10k and above off most parts unless i want that top end on whatever it is, most likely will go back and check it up.

Your drums are way too quiet. Definatley needs some cleaning it sounds a bit muddy with lots of sounds clashing.
Otherwise I think you have som really cool stuff going on. The rhytms are easy to comprehend and not anything really complicated going on which makes it quite easy for the listener to follow.
zonetrooper5:
I like it sounds great. Very atmospheric. I like the samples you used for drums/hihat.
As for feedback/criticism: maybe the chords are abit too random? I don't really hear any progression.

@VirusTI Listening on my trusted pair of Logitech x-230's
in all honesty im really digging this, everything sounds good on my end except the open hats that pan left to right they seem a bit sharp and maybe a tad too loud. otherwise than that I have nothing to pick at!
@cheezitzplz Agree with the other post only thing really to pick at is the top end is a bit too sharp.
@UVOZ Like what you got going on here, only thing I would pick at is the mid bass might need a touch more reverb or a slight more the bottom end of it knocked off. but besides that I like the drums the atmosphere and the sway!
Not Dubstep still attempting the 172 route, not sure on the low end because of my sub issues and a bit stuck for variation. any feedback on how the mix is or any other ideas much appreciated!

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@virus ti: It's defenitly catchy. There's also some things that are painful to the ear. Some of those filter sweeps and modulations are a bit harsh. The mix overall has way too much highend. also once the flanged melody comes in, the drums are almost completely drowned out, particularly the snare. I would work on sidechaining and notching out some of the areas of the melodies that are causing that.
@theincrowd: this is a cool idea. the hats get a bit monotonous after a while and the kick has way too much sustain, overpowering everything. All in all it sounds a bit muddy, particularly the pads. And the melody seems to want to resolve (the pads), but then just doesn't. All in all this is a really cool idea. I'd replace some of the drums (the snare for one). Like the 16th notes when those hats come in.
@zonetrooper: Some really nice pads and drum work. Half of it does sound out of key however. It doesn't seem to be in any particular key and seems a bit random. Also some areas are really muddy, others are way too bright. Some of the pads really need to be EQ'd. All in all I really like where it could go.
Here's mine: It's the first time in a while I've gotten past just a pattern or 2. I started out trying to make a dungeonesque tune and it sort of evolved from there. I'd love to get some feedback. Still looking for some proper vocal samples but haven't found any to fit (not looking for singing but dialogues). Anyways, any criticism is greatly appreciated.

@virusTI - very synthy. a bit strong on the sub i think. nice hooks.
@cheezitplz - not bad man. really cool sounds in this. i'd try variation on the squeals. very high on the spectrum.
@cmgooman1226 - very chill vibes. wobs are solid, i'd let more bass in on those. very nice.
another stab at some chill type dub.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
jimbeaux : I like everything, the melody, the bass, and the presens of ordinary instruments at the same time, NOW ONLY MY OPINION !, it needs better mixing, my advice would be try to make the kick lower and louder, same with the snare, has to have more in around 100-200hz, secondly add sidechain comression to everything : basses, audio effects, other instruments and symbls, just group thous tracks and add a sidechain comression TO (attention here) a new midi track with a kick drum on every first and third step (like an ordinary kick and snare places, but instead of kick AND snare only kick ) then mute that kick (inside the drum ruck frame) so its only sending the signal to a compressior but the actual sound f a kick doesnt come out. This way with a slight side chain compression your kick and snare will become more present and will make the tune kind of pulseate , trust me its a cool trick, or may be I am too much of a beginner myself. Good work anyways.
cmgoodman1226 : Very cool , extremely beautiful, I would advice yuo to do the same thing as to jimbeaux because everything is cool in your track , its solid, just could have been grovier with help of sidechain compression.
VirusTI : I like the thing itself, but it needs more pauses or something because otherways its getting boring, keep working on it.
Here is my new tune for feedback, I dont know how to finish it and I want it to be better
so please give me advices, even most sovere critics

@cmgoodman1226 - I really like the overall feel of the track, and I really like the piano sounds you used, it makes the song a lot more chilled out and fits well. Maybe turn the piano down a little bit in the mix though, it seems to drown out all your low end and mids of your bassline. I also like those dark wubs with delay, and I have been starting to get into a similar type of sound out of my basslines. Overall though, I always expect the worst when listening to tracks on here, and when I heard your track, it sounded decent and I enjoyed listening to it. Only other tip I could really suggest is to maybe add a limiter to your bass track and bring it up in the mix a little bit.
@jimbeaux - Very unique bassline you've got on this track. It is so low that it grumbles, yet it actually works harmonically! I really like it for the most part. I would suggest maybe layering a sub underneath your bassline and just keeping the mids on your bass samples, or bringing up the lows a little bit if you split your bassline into low/mid/high. Here and there it could use some atmospheric sounds and some drum fills every once in a while to keep things interesting, but thumbs up for such a unique sound. =]
@alexeyhermann - Definitely dig the glitch hop sounds you got in this tune. The very first part of your bassline (the slapbass part at around 30 seconds in) sounds like it might be a little off tempo wise, but all the sounds are interesting and go well with each other. Some of your bass sounds seem like they get a little bit lost from what sounds like maybe the resonance being turned up too high, resulting in a whooshy sound that seems a little muddy on my monitors (at around 1:02 in the song). Maybe work a little on a intro that builds up a little more into the song as well. I like the song so far though and really hope you put some more work into this. I definitely don't hear people upload stuff like yours very often and its good to hear some different stuff besides just dubstep on here. Nice work.
Anyways, i've been getting into the whole dark side/dungeon bassline thing lately, and my newest attempt at a dark tune is in my signature. I love any kind of criticism, the more in depth the better as far as i'm concerned. I still need to variate the bassline more, other than that though, I can't really think of anything else that needs fixed, feel free to point some mistakes or things I could improve on. =]

Altron: That's nicely mixed. Good sound design. Snare is a little too...dull. Needs more high freqs.
alexeyhermann: Right off the bat, it was interesting. Great instruments and everything is sounding beautiful. I don't have any criticism for this, honestly.
jimbeaux: Awesome sound design! I want a 320 of this lol. Great tune. It's a little on the thin side though. Should lightly distort everything just a bit.
Here's something I made a few months ago, but only did it half way. Spent hours today finishing the arrangement, now all I really have to do is work on the mix, but I thought I'd get DSF's opinion:

Altron - checked out your other tunes(almost al of them), I love them , very atmospheric, very cool sound design, just one advice make your kick louder, I dont feel neither the kick neither the snare ! THey both have to be louder and have more lows, unless you wanted them to be quiet but I dont think you did ) If you dont make them louder because you;re afraid of clipping then cut the bass and add sidechain comnpression its essentian espessially in atmospheric kind of music.

jrisreal: I like this a lot! The drums are so nice. Did you sequence these yourself or what?
jimbeaux: Loving the 808 sounding kick man, this tune has a really nice dark vibe to it. Definitely would look forward to hearing it finished.
alexeyhermann: Beautiful drop, beautiful pluck bass. To make it better, or longer, after the drop, you could put a sweep and make it the song continue regularly (as it did before the drop).Maybe consider a few bars double time too? Just some things to take into consideration
I've worked on this tune last night and added some touches to it this morning. I'm also a beginner, looking mainly to increase the length of this tune. Most of my tracks fall under 1.30 - 2.30 and this is no exception.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
I gave feedback to like 6 people and only got some from like 1 person (thanks to them
)... oh well here's some more in an attempt to get feedback on my track:
@dotcurrency Sounds a litte simplistic - everything seems to be playing in the same stereo region apart from the vocals - try and spread everything out. Also you can add length by building the track better - you start with the synths quite strong and keep layering stuff on top of more stuff, try and build your elements (filter in, volume fade in, white noise sweeps etc). Also extend your breakdown, and really build for the second verse.
@jrisreal Intro sounds sweet, although one of the synths seems to be distorting slightly on the highs (not sure if thats intentional). The drums are sweet man, where are the cymbals from? Everything is sounding quite good, just needs mixing a little better to give it that final punch, I'd work specifically on bringing out the snare.
@Altron Nice ominous intro, hats are a good touch. Not sure if its me though but a lot of stuff seems to be hard panned left (on headphones) - if you used a stereo widener, check it's settings - specifically the snare sounds so out of place as its hitting in the left channel before the right. Synth work is good as is the basic mix, nice track - just check your stereo settings.
My track again:

Here's a track I spent the last few hours cooking up, yet more (club) house, I know the perc is a bit off atm but any feedback relating to the mix/melodies/synths would be good - also crowd noise or no crowd noise?

dotcurrency : cool tune, catchy ) , I would like you to hear it developigng (in terms of melody), I ve heard you put there strungs its cool too, but its the same melody as everywhere, the overall chord progression has to change otherwise its too repetitive.
mthrfnk : desolation very cool easy listening tune, add few pauses, breaks or whatever (maybe few more melodies?) just to delute it, otherways its getting boring, but thats just my opinion because I do not like repetitive music, you may not take it into account, still good work

Don't remember where all the drums came from, but some of them (cymbals included) came from the Neptunian Drumz packs, which are free and awesome.mthrfnk wrote:The drums are sweet man, where are the cymbals from? Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
What up all - this is my first post ever and the tune below is also my first so if I'm talking shit sorry. My criticisms also can't be detailed because I don't know shit about production
@falxon - nice tight mix - I'm not a massive fan of the genre but sounds well produced. I personally don't like the stuttering synth that comes in after the first drop - gets on my nerves lol. BTW I'm listening on Technics RP-DJ1200 headphones.
@alexeyhermann - incredibly interesting tune! Props for doing something different. I think the vocals need to stand out in the mix more - they seem to get a little bit lost which is a shame because I like them a lot. I really feel that the bottom end of the mix is too muddy at points. On another point I disagree with your comment @Altron that sidechain compression is essential - there's other ways around the problem.
@dotcurrency I appreciate you're a beginner like me but this tune isn't working for me. Think in general the parts need some serious work on the EQing - I find the synth line pretty grating.
@jrisreal - This is dope. Can't hear much to criticise.
@Altron - again not my genre but I definitely would have vibed to this a few years back. Agree about the variation of the bassline, but more variation in general would be a big improvement. Check out stuff by Biome/Madd/Kryptic Minds (in fact watch Kryptic Minds producer masterclass if you haven't already) and notice that it's the subtle variation that keeps what could be a hella boring sound stay interesting.
Hope something of use can be gleaned from my amateurish thoughts.
Feedback would be appreciated on my first tune - please listen on something decent to get the 808 bass

@alexeyhermann, your track has a good vibe to it for sure. i really like the grooviness and the melodies as well, but the sounds seem a bit harsh, (maybe too much on the high end?) but your creativity is awesome, keep it up.
@inconnu, i like more minimal stuff like this, room to breath is always a good thing. i really like the main idea of it really. the only thing i would really say is use a different clap, but thats personal preference.
@jimbeaux, that is some original dub. your sounds get under the skin, in a good way . i really liked the vibe of it, if anything i would add some reverb to the mid bass, just to add a little more atmosphere to it.
this is my newest work in progress, ive been working on it for a couple of days and i really enjoyed doing the sound design on it.

and ill go ahead and post these other clips because i have no clue where to go next with them.

@mthrfnk Definitely keep the crowd, gives it a nice touch. That lead feels a little too bright. Love the violins. I think the lower end chords need to be a little louder in the drop. Probably could do with some vocals somewhere. Another really good house tune dude. Keep them coming.
@Inconnu The intro needs more percussion and that clap needs more to it. Try layering more claps with more high end. The hihats are good though. The song is pretty nice and chill. Needs more synths to accompany that stab though.
@alexeyhermann This sounds like glitch hop. The drums are really nice. I would have prefered the drop to change it up a bit more. Like, I wouldn't have kept that piano. I think the slap bass needs to be a little bit quiter too. The bass synths are really nice.
If I missed you out, it's 'cause you either didn't leave feedback or I wouldn't have given meaningful feedback on yours.
Mine needs feedback on pretty much everything (lead, melody, breakdown, drop) but mainly the drums. I feel like the kick needs more presence. Any feedback is helpful.
