Brostep - Part Deux!
Re: A reason brostep is popular...
seems to me you're looking too hard
bro took off because it was sensationalized by a bunch of young'uns, packs out clubs
Most of us would prefer a dark room with spliffs and beers, but there's always been a demographic in search of the latest/greatest environment in which to take ecstasy
They've always been there, if 140 halfstep hadn't resonated so strongly with that crowd, it would've been 125 4x4 or another round of dnb or some other mixture bridging USA hip hop with Uk ravey shite.
dubstep was just the logical bridger of gaps, there's a reason it's so diverse and so hated/loved, with such divisions in the sound
to DnB people, it's the slow shit
to garage, techno, house, dancehall people, it's the fast shit
to young hip hop heads, it's near-perfect in half time
the emphasis on super aggressive drops is just the lowest common denominator for club customers

It's all part of this quick fix generation. A lot of kids have no attention span unless something is made with the intention of being as obnoxious possible.
Re: A reason brostep is popular...
LOTS OF PEOPLE LIKE MUSIC THAT IS PLAYED TO THEM BY POPULAR FIGURES ON TV/RADIO.
WE GO CRAZY. LET US ANALYSE.

Re: A reason brostep is popular...
^ yes indeed. of all the reasons portrayed here i believe that's the most accurate and logical. if, at all, we're needed to speculate on why bro is pop then its definitely because slow-burning, bass-emphasized and a bit less accessible dubstep can sound quite boring for the impatient common person. whereas brostep can be seen as the soundtrack of this generation used to instant gratification

Dubstep can most definitely be appreciated on MDMA. Not so sure about something like mephedrone. Gets you a bit too hyped. But you'll see plenty of 'safe ravers' at decent nightsToday wrote:seems to me you're looking too hard

Doesn't the USA have uniforms in schools?
Re: Brostep - Part Deux!
The public schools don't. Catholic schools, charter schools, private schools, etc do.idontreallygiveashit wrote:Doesn't the USA have uniforms in schools?
But I've seen some really ghetto public schools in Philly require some sort of dress code. I guess that way no one sneaks a fucking machete in under their trench coat.

Re: Brostep - Part Deux!
I know some public schools in Baltimore and DC do but I think that's mostly an attempt to convey a sense of order and to make sure that no real gang colors are worn. Whose going to get offended by the color you're wearing if it's a uniform you're required to wear? But for the most part it's just private schools.
Re: Brostep - Part Deux!
Getting offended over someone wearing the colours of a gang you don't like is the most mindless, stupid, fucked up thing. Gang culture is fucking insanity.cmgoodman1226 wrote:I know some public schools in Baltimore and DC do but I think that's mostly an attempt to convey a sense of order and to make sure that no real gang colors are worn. Should quench your thirsts until bloodstream caves in. Plays some dubstyle at the beginning, bangin!

Re: Brostep - Part Deux!
Big dubstep scene in the 612. People in the twin cities love their dub...thank god I don't live there...
Just gotta edit and give some credit that there are a couple times a year where a good dubstep producer/act gets brought in for a show, but the other 99% of the time it's BRO.

Re: Brostep - Part Deux!
it's sort of funny bc you can tell when they're playing their own tunes by the shit drums, sounds and mixdowns
Re: Brostep - Part Deux!
'Mt Eden is Meds' on their t-shirts. What does that even mean? I heard this is a better recordings than Bloodstream's. It has a Pendulum dubstep remix and everything..
