Kind of a fun app from the Beeb... plug in your height/weight and it tells you which Olympian you're most like.

I was reading about the Polish table tennis player, Natalia Partyka, who is one of the two people taking part in both Olympics and Paralympics. She's lost to Li Jie in third round, still damn awesome she doesn't give a shit about having no arm.

That lead me to Oscar Pistorius. Here is a brief read about researching his possible 'advantage'.

I wonder if they will eventually develop artificial limbs with an equal force to bio ones. I suppose, in theory, it would mean that combined with a quicker swing it could result in some immense sprinting speed?

Still, great respect to the guy for his determination and true competitive spirit. Looking forward to watch him run on Saturday!

He has proven time and time again that there is absolutely no advantage to his blades.
The biggest concern was the fact that the blades could harm the other runners.

SA have also had Terrance Parkin swim for us as a deaf swimmer and former swimmer Natalie Du Toit that lost her leg.

Both of them are incredible... I know it's cheesy as fuck, but that right there is the "spirit of the Olympics". Talent, sacrifice, determination and a unique ability to ignore anyone that says they won't be able to compete. Inspirational!

This guy is legally blind in one eye... and one of the best archers in the world!

"Korea's Archery Federation confirms that the vision in Im Dong-Hyun's left eye is 20/200 - meaning he can see at 20 feet what someone with normal eyesight can see at 200 feet. His right eye isn't too good either (20/100).

Im has dismissed the idea of having laser eye surgery and says he's uncomfortable in glasses or contact lenses. The recent world number one admits "the lines between the colours (on the archery target) are very blurred."

And Magma, I don't think it's cheesy at all.

Good bit of drama though, the last few rounds were the most exciting thing I've seen in these OIympics so far. Ukraine team must be gutted.

Even if it's a silver, team gymnastics seems quite a big deal, when compared with some of the sports and catagories that medals can be won in it seems a bit disproportionate effort as far as the medal table rankings go (seems a bit unfair to have about 10 medals available for an individual swimming in different ridiculous styles but a whole 2 week knockout tournament involving 100s of players for one medal in some team games).

GB just got Silver in the eventing, I don't really care much about posh people riding horses though....but the course did look pretty cool going through grenwich park.

The womens gymnastic field is much more competitive than the mens, I'd be surprised if GB can get a medal!
