Sound absolutey great, really looking forward to it.
Would be lying if I said I wasn't gutted that the tune they played on the Hyperdub show that they did with Das Capital(?) & Okmalumkoolkat isn't on it though. The "living in a shoebox, full of shoeboxes... I'm broke I'm on a shoestring budget" one. That tune is something else.

Re: LV - Sebenza [Hyperdub]
It's actually great seeing SA in the spotlight like this. I mean if I told you Das Kapital (one of the guys on that track) is best known locally for straight up electro-house remixes you would probably call me out for chatting shit but that's just the thing - there's a very deep sense of mutual respect across genres/scenes here which is actually quite unique these days. I mean the whole scene in SA (or at least in my experience Cape Town) is a giant melting pot, there are very few genre specific nights (besides psytrance) and while it kind of pisses me of that I can't go and listen to nothing but straight techno in a dark room it's actually quite a special musical enviroment.

Dunno why this isn't on 'Sebenza' though, production is amazing and koolkat is at his best on that track. Still, just glad to have it either way.
I have since noticed that the first track on their hyperdub mix ("push it to the limit, push it to the limit") isn't on the album either. So I look forward to that cropping up in the future

This one's not on the album either. They have a lot of material.
Hope the ones that aren't on it come out as well. Another EP maybe?
Re: LV - Sebenza [Hyperdub]
Diamonds is on the 'Get A Grip' EP.
There's a video for Spitting Cobra (out on the LP) on YT.
Now apart from the pretty decent production there's some very solid lyrics behind this one. Anyone figure what it's about?
Can't really find anyone talking about Okmalumkoolkat's lyrics in depth, quite a shame 'cause they really blend nicely with the beat on this track.
I suppose it's about choosing independence over a relationship. The chords at the end fit really well with the 'I'm a spitting cobra..' verse.
Thoughts?

already posted in the hyperdub thread but i thought i'd post it here for any that might've missed it.
Looking forward to that! Was wondering why Zaki wasn't on the album. And there’s a song we did with Spoek and Zaki Ibrahim, more news on that soon.

What I've heard so far is great... Okmalumkoolkat is fucking great.
Re: LV - Sebenza [Hyperdub]
This has been on some serious repeat.
Re: LV - Sebenza [Hyperdub]
I don't care for it that much. It's not bad but other than 'Animal Prints' I was at no point feeling like I was hearing an unforgettable tune. The first couple of tracks with Okmalum are catchy and well produced, stuttering rollers. Then, when Ruffest takes over the album loses all momentum and I just want it to be over.
Though the opening section on this is quite good, I liked Routes a lot more (especially the vibe). This SA-style is not for me.
