I think Fresh sold off his share of DOA. I don't think he goes on much these days except to promote. Everyone there just chats shit about him anyway.Ferryman wrote:Aww I missed out on this. Re: Forum drama
DOA, man I used to love that place. Genuinely. Went to some great parties, met some cool people and made some friends I still hook up with regularly now. It was a proper community of safe people, into music. I dunno quite when it started losing that vibe, maybe around the time DnB started falling off in early 2000's, or maybe it was just the huge influx of people (which always makes it hard to retain a community vibe). Either way, it started becoming a troll playground, for half wits to pick on and make laborious tired in jokes out of those not as sharp witted as even them. In the land of the blind etc etc. I try going on there from time to time now days and it's just a cold aggressive place, everyone sniping shots at everyone else, a tired circle of DOA self appointed celebrities just being malicious to people. It's a real shame.
Either way, if for whatever reason you think I'm being militant handed with the ban hammer or editing, just remember it's for the good of the community!

All genre specific forums turn that way eventually IME, just a matter of how long it takes.pete bubonic wrote:DOA, man I used to love that place. Genuinely. The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it,
because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

DnBA certainly didn't disappear up it's own arsehole like DOA, but there were bare heads posting on the forum (especially the production bit), Fresh, DBridge, John B, Noisia, Dylan, Dom and Roland etc etc as well as Ben Kei and Cromz looking after the production forum, it was a production nerds dream.

Re: Forum drama
Sometimes, this forum is great but has followed suit a bit. It'd be nice to have a place where the big names in the scene felt comfortable posting here again, giving everyone a chance to interact with them, get free tunes and generally have a good time. But with any forum this big, you get a few people who feel the need to mouth off or just be pricks for the sake of their own ego. You only remember the loud ones so many of the original heads leave because they remember a place dominated by dickheads, which is a shame for everyone. And no, I don't mean people shouldnt express their opinion, but a modicum of respect should be applied, which sadly the anonymity of the Internet seems to make people think they can chat all types of shit.gwa wrote:do you suffer from nostalgia when you go on here then?

Re: Forum drama
Why waste their time and effort whining about it on Facebook or twitter, or having some massive melodramatic leaving thread like plasticman?capo ultra wrote:or maybe people have better things to do with their time
I think it's because they liked it back when the forum was dominated by good upbeat community vibes, I know some even found it inspiring that early tunes of theirs got positive feedback and pushed them to send to or start up labels.

Small active communities are a lot better than large ones, in most cases.
