Ableton Live Multiple Sounds..

Okay, so I listen to a lot of electronic, dubstep, house e.t.c and I always notice how they have a lot going on in the songs. I'm fairly new at messing around with daw's well seriously messing around with them. One big thing i'm having trouble with in ableton is having multiple sounds going on at once. Example, if I have my drum hitting hard it seems to mute all the other sounds or if my bass/synth is too loud it mutes the drums or other sounds playing. How do i fix this? It's really annoying. EQ is the last thing you wanna do

just go into each tune and turn up and down the bits that clash...always have all the bass and mids turned on each channel
