Maybe looking at medals per person for every country would be interesting though.pkay wrote:I don't always watch.the Olympics, but.when I do I always like to exclude the worlds.bestsouthstar wrote:Olympics would be a much better watch without US or China
I understand it's supposed to be kind of a battle of nations, but when you look at the numbers..
China -for example- has 1.3 billion people, whereas the Netherlands has around 17 million.
Then again India has like 4 medals up until now, with roughly 1 billion potential athletes
*Edit: this is looking at it summat statistically. I'm leaving out important factors like sport culture,
or even wealth.*

Surprised India haven't done well tbh.
Re: London 2012 Olympics Rolling Thread
Its a matter of how important athletics are in your country. Also USA and China dominate women's sports. They win most everything
Re: London 2012 Olympics Rolling Thread
Nah it's disrespectful. It's not as if we would have left out a tribute to 9/11 victims.
Re: London 2012 Olympics Rolling Thread
That is actually fucking disgraceful

Thought it was obvious given context. But yes
Re: London 2012 Olympics Rolling Thread
i just saw Hughs picture then what you said. I took it that you were saying that athletics were more important to America at that moment than paying respects to the victims of 7/7. Sorry if I misunderstood.pkay wrote:hugh wrote:I think pkay was talking about China and America's olympic dominancePerej wrote:Nah it's disrespectful. although if they were talking about "the rest of the world's" terrorism victims, they might have had a little tribute to foreign drone campaigns or the islands we've ethnically cleansed so we can build air force bases... or guantanamo.
