Lil Wayne: I'm Switching From Rapping To Skateboarding

Post by alphacat » Tue Aug 07, 2012 12:52 am

Hot on the heels of Snoop's recent 're-invention'...

mtv wrote:

Lil Wayne Calls Rap 'Boring,' Hops On Skateboarding Instead

'I believe the fans deserve some peace from me, so I'll be on my skateboard in the meantime,' Weezy tells DJ Drama during a radio interview.

These days you'll be hard-pressed to find Lil Wayne without a skateboard, but could the YMCMB rap champ be hanging up the mic in exchange for the deck? For the time being, yes.

"It's kinda putting rap on the back burner, that's all. Rap's taking a backseat to skating, that's all," Weezy told DJ Drama when he phoned into his radio show on Atlanta's Hot 107.9 on Wednesday.

"I kinda feel like I deserve that, I feel like the fans deserve a little No Wayne. I've been everywhere, man. I've been out on everybody's song, I'm still on everybody's song," Tunechi continued. "My artists are doing awesome; I believe the fans deserve some peace from me, so I'll be on my skateboard in the meantime."

Wayne did confirm that his Dedication 4 mixtape with Drama would be dropping in the middle of August, but he didn't elaborate on any of his other expected musical projects. At the top of June, Weezy Wi dropped "My Homies Still," the first single off of I Am Not a Human Being II, which is said to be dropping later this year, though no release date has been set.

Since he was a teen, Weezy has released music at a dizzying pace, whether solo albums, LPs with his former group the Hot Boys or his plethora of mixtapes, so can you really blame him? "Yeah, it does get pretty boring when it comes to the rapping and that kinda stuff. I've done so much of it," he said. "I've been doin' it since I was 8. I'm about to be 30 in September and I'm still rappin'. So I kinda feel like I'm gettin' old."

Skating provides a new challenge for the multiplatinum rap star. Tunechi has become so enamored with his board that he even has skating ramps in the microphone booth where he records. "What happened was I picked up the skateboard and it started being a hobby and what happened is it's a lifestyle," he said. "You have to be fully committed because it's super-scary, and in order to be fully committed, you have to live that lifestyle."

True...
I was just thinking that how he has talented producers who make him sound good and whatever but you can't really do that with skateboarding.
Unless he hires people to do some CGI shit to make him look like he tre bombed a 25 set

I like a couple of bootleg remixes of 3peat but otherwise I didn't like what I heard from him on his own after that Fireman track. But it was mostly the instrumental I liked.

He's spot on. 4 years ago dsf was on his nuts. Now they puffin their chests

If he takes 18 months off and drops another Carter album dsf will be back in full dangle mode

If biggie and pac were around dsf would shit on them manually

Wayne is dope. His verses on camrons last mix tape was insane

I'd gather maybe 5% of Wayne's tracks hit MTV.

he mightve been alright at one point... but then he started making stuff along these lines.
