Big Big love to all of San Francisco, the entire bay area and beyond. Ritual is now in it's third year and we are overjoyed by the amount of support and dedication that the dubsteppaz have shown us. Our scruffy little party has grown into a massive experience for everyone and we thank you for being a part of the show.

"DJ Shortee is the world’s premier female DJ!!”
GRAMMY FOUNDATION

"The ultra-versatile DJ Shortee has become queen of the scratch world. She has become an unquestioned paragon in her field.”
DJ TIMES

“Within the ever crowding DJ/Producer genre, Shortee's versatility & musical prowess stands out. With her compelling musicianship she has created a turntable style all her own & has grown from obscurity to acclaim”
URB

Recognized as one of most diverse and technically skilled female DJs worldwide, Shortee’s 17 year career is highlighted by an unparalleled series of firsts. Described as the “World’s Premier Female DJ” by the Grammy Foundation, Shortee’s pioneering spirit, inspiring talent and long resume of accomplishments are enough to spark awed envy in any DJ, gender aside. Named “Queen of the Scratch World” by DJ Times, Shortee is a multi-genre DJ, turntablist, music producer, record label owner, DJ instructor and published author. Her unique contribution to the art of DJing earned her a spot as the only female DJ featured in Doug Pray's critically acclaimed movie "SCRATCH".

There are few DJs that are truly respected globally in such a wide variety of genres like Shortee. She spins everything from Electro House, Dubstep, Drumstep, Drum & Bass, Moombahton, Breaks, Hip Hop, Top40, Mash Up, Funk, Soul, Rock and more. Her fast paced mixing style, expert scratching skills and energetic stage presence has made her one of the most in demand DJs touring worldwide in North America, South America, Central America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

From underground massives to high profile events, Shortee has performed for corporate giants such as New Line Cinemas, Tiffany, Sprite, Frito Lay, Activision and was Playboy's 50th Anniversary Club Tour DJ. She has also shared the stage alongside worldclass artists such as KRS One, Method Man, Andy C, Craze, Q-bert, Z-Trip, The Roots and countless others. She was the opening act of the first and widely popular Pendulum Live Tour and has DJed for Bahamadia and legendary Hip Hop pioneer Roxanne Shante of the Juice Crew fame (Biz Markie, Marley Marl, Big Daddy Kane etc). In addition to being a veteran globetrotter, Shortee has also made the rounds on the silver screen, starring in an countless documentary movies as well as TV appearances including NBC’s “Hip Hop Nation”, The Tyra Banks Show, and a celebrity cameo in a Sony PSP commercial.

Making her production debut in 1998, Shortee appeared on Faust's critically lauded "Man or Myth", the first turntablist album ever released. The following year, Shortee's full length solo debut "The Dreamer" became the first and only turntablist album produced by a female. Shortee has since produced multiple albums, singles, eps, battle records, remixes, appeared on numerous compilations and released a ton of DJ mixes. Her skills as a DJ & Producer have earned her acclaim in countless publications including Rolling Stone, Spin, DJ Times, Urb, Remix and more as well as licensing features airing on networks such as NBC, ESPN, CNN, MTV & HBO.

In addition to being a solo artist, she produces alongside her partner Faust as "Faust & Shortee" and "Urban Assault". In 2006, the duo launched two record labels: 5 Star Records (Hip Hop / DJ Tools) and Heavy Artillery Recordings (House / Dubstep / Drum & Bass / Drumstep / Moombahton). In 2008, their single “Away” was nominated for best jungle/dnb track at the International Dance Music Awards. In 2009 Urban Assault's infamous “Red Raider” EP not only held the #1 spot on both Beatport & TrackItDown, but it was also honored by TrackItDown's Drum & Bass Awards as one of the top 10 releases of the year alongside such artists as Subfocus, Deadmau5, Chase & Status and The Prodigy. Their influential Heavy Artillery Recordings label has made such a lasting mark on the global electronic music scene that it was recently voted Symphonic Distribution’s 2011 “Label of the Year”.

Four years as a head professor at The Scratch DJ Academy co-founded by RUN DMC's Jam Master Jay, Shortee also teaches DJ/Remix courses for the esteemed Grammy Foundation, online lessons for Turntable U: The World’s Premier Online DJ School, tours the world teaching DJ equipment seminars for Rane/Serato and has taught workshops for the SAE Institute, Channel One News, and Sprite. In addition to her classes, Shortee has produced a popular series of instructional DVDs (http://www.shorteesdjseries.com) and in 2012 she became the first & only female DJ to write an instructional book on DJing. Her critically acclaimed book and dvd set “Spin Now!: The DJ Starter Handbook” (Hal Leonard Publishing Co.) is currently available worldwide in paperback and kindle editions.

It is impossible to paint a complete picture of an ever evolving artist like Shortee with words alone, so please visit her websites for more info, music, videos, tour dates & free downloads!
