Aren't tequila/mezcal imported from Mexico and surrounding countries? The only ones Ive ever seen come from there. And bourbon is gross sweet corn syrup. All about dat rye whisky.

Mexico is in North America (although is often grouped w/ Central America).

Bourbon isn't made w/ corn syrup, it's made with corn mash (51% or more) and charred oak barrels . Try some good stuff, or even medium stuff, it's sort of America's Cognac - pretty damn tasty. I like the woodier tasting stuff like Bulleit.
