this one has the best of both worlds

the half time beat at first, then it switches into a typical ukg beat
despite the wobble it is still pretty garagey for the most part tho.
Only the madman is absolutely sure.

Probably biased cuz it's my favorite dubstep choon, but I'd say that it was stripped off of the straight up garage enough by here.

Like, I'll include Horsepower and El-B and shit as dubstep, but I'll draw the line RIIGHT before 'Touch' by DJ Abstract where I'd say it's totally dubstep.

And I love the whole notion that an American was the first to do straight up dubstep.
thats a amazing tune, never heard it before. thanks for sharing.

The first time that the word " dubstep " was used is back in 2002 , on a XLR8R cover who was speaking about Horsepower Productions.

I know this track make a big turn between the UK garage and the new called "dubstep" kind of sound :

The total public acceptation of the name / genre " dubstep" came with the release on tempa record off the cd " Dubstep Allstars vol. 1 " by Hatcha ( greaaaaaaaat sounds but i'm sure you know them all :) ) who was released less than one year after " log on " from Horsepower Productions

I think it's more or less that , and of course after that you have all the croydon stuffs : rinse , pastician , DMZ , skream&benga , kode9 etc :::> all the people who where hanging around the Big Apple record shop early 2000's i guess !
