@travis baker Drums on the intro are quite cool. The random perc hits are good and well placed. This isn't really my type of stuff so personally I found it a little boring because of the repetitive nature, perhaps some snare rolls or other synths such as a thick pad might brighten it up a little?

@jclarkeiv I like how you've used panning, but it sounds a little too extreme, I'd bring in the width a little. Synths are a little weird man, but you've got some cool melodies and the drums sound nice, although they need to be mixed better, they're drowned by the synths. Not too sure where you could go, perhaps try a breakdown and build up to a double time drop?

@tripwire22 Good perc and atmosphere on the intro, imo it takes a little too long for the drop since the intro is quite repetitive, maybe filter some stuff in to build a little better. The bass work is nice, and the pads are good too. Really nothing more to criticise, everything is sounding nice - finish it up ;-)

@Italus 2 points about the intro - the excessively compressed drums sound bad, and the laser synth basically reminds me exactly of Knife Party's Internet Friends. Aside from this the track is actually well made, although the yoi's sound a bit generic. The build is good as is the drop. However on the drop you need more, somethings missing - either sub or background noise. Also your main drums sound a little too compressed as well, try softening them up a little.

Update on my new track (it's house not dubstep), not sure about the lead synth - think imma change it since it's too screechy, but I've tried to improve the mix- thoughts?

JTreeZY the bassliner is pretty simple which I don't mind but find it to be a downfall in todays music but thats just my opinion
the bass itself has a nice texture, it sounds a little weak though, could maybe use some widening with 2 polyphonic? assuming your bass is monophonic
i really love the clap its nice and clean it suits the track well, i think if there were more melodic fxs and actual melodies to accommodate everything itll sound more interesting off the bat
overall a decent track bro

Houston Weather
cool sound effect at the start, then chords sound decent, maybe more progressions to create more interest? that one bass type sound is way to wide bro, everything else is slightly wider than your average as well, have you checked your tune in mono? I really like your tom/perc loops though, once that acid lead kicks in dammnnnnn, that is very nice i love it, the melody is so dirty too, add more to this part would really liven your tune up, i really love the fx that built up with it, the second acid drop is sexy dude. i love the kick work with all the sounds on that part, the bass really makes it groovy, overall this is a really awesome tune just needs a bit of wok in the stereo field and maybe moar fx :)

Jankey
interesting start to your track, i like that weird synth with the delay, the bass filtering in is intense, the drop is decent. i dont really feel the melody of the bass but it totally sounds 2008 dubstep lol, i love the fx works that ride with it all, even that nice like closed hat that sits below everything else lol, the melody needs more progression, i would really love to hear some chords and vocals fx to this, decent tune bro

Kongretawesome bassline melody at the start, everything is working so nicely together, i love your interesting sounds, not a fan of those dudes yelling tho lmao, everything is fucking sick, especially that detuned vibrato lead to go with build, the second drop, wow, very unique, i can imagine some crazy shit to this, it just paints an interesting picture in your head, ever get that? its like you can see the sounds in your mind, and this really has something different from the rest and i appreciate that, and holy fuck on your arp.....i loved that switch to the brass jazz vibe, very very amazing work, especially the 2 sounds on the left and right, now its back to that cool detuned lead, very insane tune bro, im tripping hard right now lmao, youve got talent bro, i want to take acid and listen to this for some reason, that very last part where it sounds like a totally different song is interesting, i love that guitar thats moving with your drums, nice build, cool fuckin drop dude im in love with this shit right now, overall an amazing track, only thing you need is actual processing of everything, it sounds like there ismt much equing going on but man im stoked to hear the mastered version, its beastly

BudSpencertron very cool chords with your subbass. im really loving this vibe it gives off, wow on the bell type sound, this is very sinister and charming, i love the snare and kick, it really sits with your sounds really well, i love that new synth you introduced to create a heavier beat. holy shit on the delayed keys you have going on, do you mind me asking where you got all these interesting sounds? they sound more cinematic than your average digital synth lol, wow i love the vocals at the background of the beat, man im really loving this, its so damn good, its melodic backbone is simple but the combination of melodies/synths puts your tune on another level, finish asap very cool tune bro

Maxxan
cool song, i like the vocals with your chords, very nice vibe. the bass is pretty cool, actually, i love it, its pretty cool once you automate it more. the snare maybe a tad louder would help sound snappier imo, im really loving your creativity though, everything suits eachother, i think youve hit it right with its lyrics, maybe the lyrics could use a tad more wetness in delay and reverb, it sounds a little dry a some parts and sometimes a little too loud when he says and reach for the skyy with your drop. overall a nice clean groove with everything, im really liking it. the vocals are actually really good, just a tad more processing imo, very cool synth at the end, i love it, i would have loved it more if it poked its head out here and there during the track lol

mthrfnk
track not available bro

rymebox
chyeaaaaaa loving that bass, very dirty, the vocals are amazing. your chords are fucking amazing, everything is dope as fuuuu. the vocal build is sick. omg that autotune before the drop was sick, the drop is very clean. im seriously in love with this tune, by far the coolest tune ive heard giving feedback ever, its just so dope, my one question is how do you keep it so simple on the drop but it all just flows together? I always make my drops like this but they never flow together nicely, it sounds tooooo simple and dry ? overall a sick tune, i cant wait for the end, im folowing you

dougriley
decent track mate, i like the minimal vibe you have , the bass is decent, i think maybe a tad more effects and melodies to take your tune another level.

RandoRando
interesting track bro, the kick may need some cleaning as well as your snare, i love the bass, it has a nice dark vibe, and im loving the eerie melody and vocals to sit with everything, I could see this being played in a dark thriller movie or something lol, show me moar whenever you need feedback homie

travis baker
nice minimal vibe, i like the closed hats and light basses, it has a very weird vibe which i like, it sounds like some alienstep going on lol, the perc loop is a dope addition, really gives a more exotic touch to it all, the subbass is nice, very simple, which suits everything, I think of halo for some reason listening to this or some kind of alien game. i cant honestly say anything about it, it sounds good to me homie

CrewCutz
lol nice eerie tune you have going on, I loled at some of the sounds not sure why, decent tune bro, im liking the cleanliness of the kick and snare though, its an okay track imo, it gets boring after awhile because of the same bassliner, keep it up mate

RARRR_
nice kick and snare, the kick may need some gentle/narrow cuts in the mid section, the yoi bass is nice, maybe a little to loud but its nice..lol the second drop is okay though, sounds like donald duck drowning in a tube or something, funky tune..

BudSpencertron
holy shit, what a funky tune, im loving every sound, mind me asking what you used to get that amazing vibrato type lead? im in love with it and would kill to know how to make it :) everything is sexy, i can see this being used for a famous hip hop or synthpop artist, but someone with actual talent, it just has that top quality vibe I love about music, especially the steel drums, such a beautiful addition. im really want this tune man, its so funky and fresh, im gonna follow you!

Italus
nice simple intro, very hardtrance-like, which i admire, very nice addition with the famous yoi bass, the transitional fx was nice, the chords are decent imo, everything needs more processing though, some parts don't seem to fit eachother in mixing wise, some parts sound to dry with other wet sounds. the drop could use moar subbass, im really loving the drop though, very cool, please beefen everything up though, it sounds too weak imo, but has such mad potential for the drop, im really bopping my head to the groove of this. keep it up bro

tripwire22
nice hats and percs at the intro, the suspense is a nice touch, the drop is cool. not my cup of tea but has a cool minimal vibe to it all. keep it up!

jclarkeiv
not a fan of the melody nor sounds imo, the kick is oldschool at best, nice snare rolls though, im not really a fan of the song though lol, everything needs more work, more livening up, newer sounds, innovate my friend, we are in the next decade now! i appreciate your work though...

billybuxton
i love how the bass works with your kick and snare, has that typical groove i find in most minimal dubstep, very short and not really worth critiquing imo but yeah keep it up homie

nah i just come to give feedback at random times, it helps me realize my weaknesses then i build on them
thats a dope tune mate, i love the chords, the pads and bells, the mid range bass could use some more gain imo, and maybe some distortion? the kick and snare need a tad tightening with equing some more mid out of your kick, boost a little high too through parallel compression on both the kick and snare, im not a fan of the vocals but its a nice touch and really fills her in. the chords and melody is nice though bro. the snare sits well with the rest but it sounds like its lacking a bit more color in the synths, it sounds very organic and warm with minimal highs imo, it sound maybe use more higher melodies or pads to create more atmosphere, the rain is a very nice addition, just some equing and processing is needed

Maxxan,
def dig that sunshine song, very nice work. i have to agree with dotcurrency that the piano gets a little drowned out and needs to stand out a little more, the synth seems to drown out the piano and to a much lesser extent - the drums i thought.

dotcurrency,
i really dig your wip 3 track. i'll have to agree with difference to change up the percussion song, mainly the first half of the song really before it really comes alive. the parts where it beefs up towards the middle and end i personally think sound good as-is. but for the first part maybe throw in some toms as a shuffle or just change it up with some other percussion. if you decide to use bongos, shakers, hats, etc, just keep them real quiet. but i think some shuffle would be nice before it really cuts loose around the halfway point. other than that i agree again with difference about that particular snare sound. maybe layer it with some more snares and come out with something a little splashier?

UVOZ,
don't really have anything to add for yours, i think it's a solid sound. what sticks out to me with this song is the ambiance first and foremost. very nice drums and i really love your execution on chopping up the instruments.

==================================

here's a song ive been working on for almost 3 months. the song is dnb but is heavily trance inspired w/ female vocals. i like to work in some trance elements into dnb, something i started doing about 5 years ago but this is my best attempt. i'm a long-time DJ (10+ years) but i've never been very happy with my production efforts even though that's something i really enjoy too. i'm really trying to step up my game with production.

mastering is not a strong point for me. i did parallel compression on this song plus eq'ing as needed but it still needs a couple db in loudness so i think perhaps a little more compression will need to be done but carefully to make sure i don't lose too much in the way of dynamics. i've spent a ridiculous number of hours on this song so it goes without saying that critiques are very welcome

mthrfnk- im not really into 4x4 but the design is clean. this could bump during some serious workouts! i like that little brass like synth you got going a lot.

JTreeZY- leave some feedback for people, the wubz are pretty interesting, the design is stiff. get more shuffle inside, im liking the straight up kinda vibe but still get some more groove inside.

tripwire22- percs are percin! im trying to come up with cooler percussion at the moment. this ones fat, goodjob.

A little something I've been working on. Still working on a lead melody and some variation in the build up. Lemme know how the low end sounds please. :)

I've been working on this thing for way too long. It's been the track that I'm learning new techniques on. What I'm specifically trying to look at is the drums, and why they don't sound very crisp or exciting. Is it the composition? The samples? Something with EQ? Any tips or general commentary would be nice.

It's swing/dubstep/idk.

Fair do's man, in your track, the basses and midrange are totally covering your drums. The forum has lots of threads on how to EQ your track properly so everything has it's place, also consider sidechaining. For punch you'll want to look into compression and transient shaping on your drums. The track has some really nice ideas though, good and original, just try to improve the mixdown.

Oh and I checked your soundcloud, it looks like between your WIP 4/5 and that #6 you posted, you've compressed and/or limited the master - compressing and limiting a track that isn't mixed well enough will also cause your drums to lose punch as the rest of the track dynamics are generally made louder thus competing with the drums. Be careful with your limiter ;-)

First off, I'm definitely no expert but we all want feedback so here goes,

DJ Dizzy- very nice chords and arp. Has a uplifting vibe for sure. That breakdown is nice. What if you chop up the pads in some way too? might be cool. I see you kind of do at the end.

Mass Aphekt- you know I dig your tunes. very cool stutter effect on the vocal. I like all the movement. That shit is runnin!

mtherfnk- Cool/Catchy intro. the main pad and maybe a couple other sounds might benefit from a little more processing/edge. I think that will make the difference between sounding like a japanese track from a video game (just those elements of the track) or being a solid dance floor track. Or maybe I'm just biased because you called me out and rolled your eyes. lol i dunno

A bit of laidback stuff here. Some super basic arrangement just to give the sounds a bit of room for the preview clip, its probably going to be alot different later, just wondering if it sounds good so far ;-)

@JTtreeZY Not sure the direction I wanna go with this one. Keep it Hip Hoppy or make it Dubsteppier.. any recommendations?
I recommend going hip hop with it but adding some more variations even if they are subtle (a few hats here and there or an extra kick or two). You could add a few vocals and a few pads aswell to fill in the voids and bring it all together too!

@Jankey : Great work on the bass man a good lead would do wonders to contrast it. Unless your going for that dark grimey sounds I would highly recommend a simple quick lead, it just feels like it would work.

@Kongret :I love your glitchy bass and the vocals in the background plus you did phenomenal with the leads man. Seriously not much to recommend here except to try and clean up the waveform but **** that seems pretty tough with al lthat you've got going on in there. Just sidechain and EQ cut out the un-necessary frequencies.

Edit: Left feedback, I truly apologize I try and lurk the forums as much as I can but I completely browsed right over that.

Been working on a little filler track (Hopefully I can get a promo CD going one day) and wanted to see if everything is sitting right in the mix and if the structure seems pretty solid to you guys Soundcloud

cool progression going on but it really needs much stronger percussion. Layer the kick get that clap pumping ;-).... anyways i think you could get a bit more creative on the bassline but all in all good arrangement mate. :w:
