isnt that what dubstep was about?

I actually think for the most part it's very backward thinking, but still "fresh" in some sense (at least some releases, some of them are god awful). Labels like Warp and Phutureshock are pushing truly forward thinking music.

Swamp are a good label, but I always feel like I'm hearing exactly what I expect from them (maybe because they built themselves on that sound), whereas there are other labels that shock me every release.

I think people are getting confused between what Loefah plays on Rinse and what he actually releases on Swamp 81. He's just been playing one of Happa's tunes, that's all. Last time I heard he wasn't signing anyone new. That's probably also why I kind of agree with this:

I don't think there's that much backward thinking stuff though (apart from Boddika with obvious nods to UR etc., Trusta maybe but that's a different approach). The references are there but it's a new spin on things and there's more variety than people give credit for.

tl;dr: pointless swamp talk

I cant really agree with this , the stuff from the UK sounds pretty weak and unoriginal , I watched an interview with blawan and pariah , and they even commented the same about UK techno productions.
And as regards my comments about Swamp81 , I dont think Swamp is a bad label , they have released some fantastic music , I just don't think that it's an original label , but it seems to be the one jaded dubstep fans gravitate to because of lofhas involvement , they here the tune and think that what swamp are doing is pretty groundbreaking , where in essence you can find similar 'bass music' going back as far as 1985 , people just need to dig.
I've watched the video you're referring to and the point Blawan makes is that people dismiss and ignore the uk's rich history of proper techno despite being fans of "bass music" or whatever. If you're going to be so patronising it's probably best not to cite such a respectable source whose view is exactly the opposite of yours and to an extent critical of people such as yourself.

If you want to include yourself with dsprainman's statement you need to multiply by 3/2.

surely he mean text not texture?

I wonder what the other side will be... I hope it's that weird jazzy/atonal number Four Tet played when he was on the Hessle rinse show.

Although he is making tunes what sound like others, especially Karren on this rmx i still think at 15 he is going to be a name to watch out for. Maybe needs more time thought to develop!

i'm gonna speak on a whole on this new techno craze and i think blawan has already mentioned this in an interview.

whilst the new techno coming out is good, it's really what british murder boys were doing 15+ years ago. do some research, know your history. really not worth the hype at all.

People look far far too much into music, if it sounds good, I like it, regardless!

Whether Happa is 15 or not, he's making some very good music, really enjoy his mixes too!

wondered how this thread got to 3 pages as i dont think the tune is worth that hype. swamp arguments solves that conundrum
