I haven't paid too much attention to the line up yet to be honest, only really intent on seeing Orbital. Wonder if the rollerdisco will make a return this year :h:

Everyone whos been bangs on about it but its pretty pricey and English weather is dogshit 70% of the time. Line ups are Glastonbury levels of nuttyness though.

Saw Julio Bashmore, Spencer, Oneman b2b Jackmaster, Jamie XX, Justin Martin, Claude Von Stroke, Blawan, Stevie Wonder, Pearson Sound, Four Tet b2b Caribou and Grimes. Great vibes and Oneman b2b Jackmaster was just ridiculous.

Orbital last night was even better than their set at Glastonbury 2010, great way to finish the weekend.

this is definitely my last year, it's got slightly worse every year for the past 4 years and the vibe isn't the same anymore, I still had loads of fun and it's still a really happy place, but there were so many people that trying to find anywhere to chill in a group with more than 2 or 3 people was a mission, the security forced everyone out at 3/4am and every stage was much quieter than the last few years, especially the Big Top which for Skream and Benga's set was so quiet you could have a conversation without having to raise your voice. Also the amount of bros was a shame, the majority of sets the crowds were really pushy and aggressive, getting an elbow the the ribs every 5 seconds got a bit frustrating.

Every year I go the the Solace tent on top of the hill which gives out free cakes and hot drinks, the first year we went we sang songs and hymns with the people, my mate even got on the guitar and played along, the second year we talked to them, played board games, chilled, third year it was quite packed in there but still nice, this year the queue was so long, people were going up pointing out the cake they want and the hot drink, taking it and leaving without even saying thank you, it's gone from a community feeling to almost a free coffee shop, it's the same feeling i got throughout the festival, without sounding like too much of a hipster, it's too mainstream, the lineup was better than ever which only comes from bigger numbers and more money but inevitably you lose the community feeling.

On top of that i took waaaaaay too much mandy on Friday and on Sunday night I started getting random headrushes and nearly passing out, almost cried several times for no reason, just intense rushed of emotion, still feeling dizzy on today, hoping it will stop soon lol.

However, it felt like there was much less security/police which was refreshing, much fewer checks and searches and the weather during the day was perfect. Oneman b2b Jackmaster was sick, Bonobo was incredible. Bandstand was so on point this year, every band bar one was amazing. Stevie Wonder has to take it though, shocked how good someone can be, he made the stage seem like his living room he was so fucking relaxed.

Agree with you about getting more commercial and bro, this was my third outing (previous ones were 09 and 11) and the crowd has changed a reasonable amount. The crowd for Spiritualized was one of the worst crowds I've ever seen - trendy shoreditch types waiting for Friendly Fires shouting abuse at Spiritualized to get off stage. So annoying.

Agree with you about the bandstand, we chill there on the Sunday morning/early afternoon each year, so bliss up there, especially when they get the music right.

Had my phone nicked, before I blocked the sim when I got back someone was nice enough to rack up £32 of international calls. Again, not what you expect from the Bestival crowd.

I dont understand people who find a phone, and instantly think ''lets call a foreign country''. Youre at a festival......why the fuck are you calling Outer Mongolia??

I actually found an iphone 4 and digital camera in a handbag in a portaloo and gave it in to the police. I assumed that was the festival spirit but clearly not, it's such a shame, anyone looking at any other up and coming sub 50k festivals?
