singles are becoming important again, so imo it makes sense to pay that instead of giving a two million dollar advance for an album.

I actually quite like that Zelda tune, it's bouncy and fun and has all sorts of cool beeps and bloops and other melodic percussive stuff goin on.
Haters gonna hate tho!

btw if a record company wants to pay somebody that much to sign one of their tunes then by all means let them. If you ask me the recording industry is a dying beast and actions like this just show they are weakening.

Not really sure what to say here.. It's not a bad tune by any means, it's just super generic and bland. I suppose the Zelda theme is what makes it a novelty, I guess there's a lot of ironic teens out there who go crazy for that shit.

I don't even understand the whole Zelda part to it, its just filler in the track that doesn't really work. He shoulda just left it out. But I suppose if you are gonna get famous quick doing "novelty" remixes like this is a good way to go about it.

That said, I love the yoiiiii and yeeeaahhhs going on with the filters in some of the basslines. They are actually really well produced sounds that, essentially, sound very good.

What? Do you mean you've never heard Levels on an advert or something? Just because you don't know the track's name doesn't mean you haven't heard the track... they don't announce it every time it's played on a trailer or ad or TV show or something... you've confused me.

I googled it, yeah I know it.
I'm pretty good at avoiding this kind of stuff though, I very rarely know what's going on in the charts or anything like that. It just doesn't interest me.

I think this is true for whatever electronic genre is popular for an era though. Remember back in the early filesharing days when you could search for song/movie theme/etc X techno remix and there was usually something?

Yeah and those were terrible remixes since they never were techno in the first place.

I especially remember back in the late 90's when people realized you could make any song into a jungle tune, but... yeah. This is something of a tradition at this point...

It depends on the contract. In most cases it would not simply be giving the guy 750k. They are basically renting him, and pimping him out. If he doesn't meet whatever sales they agreed on, he will end up owing them more than that most likely. It's a slippery slope. I hope he spent a good chunk of that on music lawyers because the companies in question see this as purely a current area to exploit. They don't give a fuck about a scene or music.
