Sonar X1, Reaper or Studio One 2

Which of these is the best 64 bit DAW (until Ableton gets stable at 64 bit) would you recommend using for Dubstep, using both loops and newly created midi instruments and synths?

Trial them and see which fits your workflow best. everyone is going to have their own opinions based on what they've used.. which chances are aren't going to be all 3, and even then it's personal preference

Well I can tell you how awesome Studio One is for me, but someone else will say or said exactly the same about the other two.
At the end of the day it's about what works best for you so the best advice is to try out the demos and decide for yourself which works best for you.

Reaper is getting a lot of love around these parts, but if you could use any software, nevermind the price, would you still choose it? Is it really that great or is ist just great for the price?

Not saying it's bad, never tried it. Just seems odd to me, is all.

I've used Reason, FL, Cubase and Sony Acid way back when.
I am the most comfortable with Reaper.
It's definitely my preference.

I also still own Cubase 5 by the way but I still choose Reaper.

That's interesting. I also do some orchestral film scores as well as dubstep and electro. Cubase seems to get the love of the film scorers, mainly due to it's apparent superior midi and midi expression.

How does Reaper's midi functions compare?

I hear a few complaints but I personally haven't had any issues.
Everything is a simple script away with Reaper.
Commands by the bajillions.

Nah. My understanding is that Cubase is the film scorers weapon of choice (it's what people like Hans Zimmer use for mockups). However, Nuendo is more of a mastering DAW, from my understanding.

i used to use protools, fuck that shit
used logic for a bit, but switched to reaper after
tried using live a while ago and small things pissed me off so much that i couldn't bear it. in reaper you can make it do almost anything in a couple clicks
