That ad would have been a lot more effective if they just dropped the cliched singing and dancing and gave us some extreme before & after shots. And more importantly a live demonstration of how to apply the cream.

the whole light-skin bias in south asian culture makes me sick, having skin darker than someone else is like being a ginger to white people, except 5x worse.

This has been available in the US for quite some time. For some reason we've only decided it's controversial when India started selling it too, which is... interesting.

I think it's the fact that it's controversial within India that's the news, unless this wasn't a widely known product and the indian controversy has brought it to the attention of the rest of the world and causing more controversy? I dont know, it's silly anyway.

I really don't find the image offensive per say...
Because I don't find it insulting to be compared to a strong beautiful slave...

But it's the verbage that went with the story...

they say she "...seduced the American people..." and "..stole Barak Obamas Heart..."

Made her sound like a heated up coniving vixen instead of an intelligent self-respecting woman.
