Mega chillled [Bit of a drop]

Post by Stmiddleton » Thu Aug 30, 2012 4:09 pm

Hey guys,

I'm not very experienced at all but I made one of my first tracks a few weeks ago but haven't yet bothered to get any feed back on it. Some would be very appreciated.

Don't let the title of 'first track' put you off because without being big headed it's probably better than some peoples first but there's obviously LOTS to improve on.

Program used: Ableton
VST: Mainly FM8 and can't remember the samples.

please go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpqoffItpWI&feature=plcp

Cheers guys and don't be afraid you're gunno hurt my feelings.

I know it's not "dubstep" but it has a elements of it.

Nice work - Its got a warm, chilled-out vibe and atmosphere to it. It also kept me interested throughout to hear what happens next.

I reckon the you could add more reverb on the white noise/hats that happen throughout. They just seem a tad harsh given the vibe of the track. You add some reverb at around 2:23 which sounded great.

I agree with timhet on reverbing the hats. In addition I would add some verb to the snare as well as cutting out a bit of it's bottom end, roll with the chill vibe! The wobble comes in way too ostentatiously, tone that thing down, it is clashing with the vibe of the rest of the track. Not bad though for a newcomer, keep at it.
