What freq does an E2 sine sub hit?
I want this to be precise as possible. I'm looking at my spectrum analyzer and I can't clearly see where it is the brightest colored. Using Massive, keeping the OSC pitch value at 0.00, and playing the note on the piano roll "E2", where does the frequency hit most? With nothing else effecting the wave. And what frequency should I cut out everything above that? What token percentage should it be?
I'm experimenting with my sub bass. I already got my drums set up, Kick and Snare hitting at -6db, the hi-hat hitting at -10 db, and I cut out all the low frequencies below at least 43hz on the kick drum. As well as raised the highs in the 16khz-18khz range by about 2.0 decibels for a more rich sound to the ears.
Now I have a bass line playing a SIMPLE sub bass hitting the notes E2, F2, and G2. With no other effects on the wave.
I'm wondering where I should cut out everything above, to not let the drum and sub clash together, and where the sub bass is most rich in frequency at exactly.
I'm only using the stock parametric equalizer preset on FL Studio for this.
Please and thank you.

Re: What freq does an E2 sine sub hit?
technically speaking a sine wave is only 1 frequency - so wherever it shows highest on your analyzer is where it's hitting. PS E2, F2, G2 is way, way above sub bass levels
You want E0, F0.etc. As for cutting it off - you have to look at where their frequencies sit and this takes practise if your sub is moving around.

160 bpm roller - for all the skankas.

Low pass a reference track and make yours look like that

Re: What freq does an E2 sine sub hit?
That depends on your synth.subfect wrote:technically speaking a sine wave is only 1 frequency - so wherever it shows highest on your analyzer is where it's hitting. Re: What freq does an E2 sine sub hit?
On what part? If your synth creates a "sine wave" and you got a lot more frequences in there, it's not a sine wave. If you're talking about keys and octaves - there is a standard that should be followed. If your synth is outside of that then...jrisreal wrote:That depends on your synth.subfect wrote:technically speaking a sine wave is only 1 frequency - so wherever it shows highest on your analyzer is where it's hitting. I was talking about octaves. Not sure what we're doing differently, but I can stick in octave 2 for subbass

Re: What freq does an E2 sine sub hit?
E0 sine is much too low for most systems to reproduce. E2 is close to where your kick would usually be hitting...E1 is a really good sub note (41 Hz)subfect wrote:technically speaking a sine wave is only 1 frequency - so wherever it shows highest on your analyzer is where it's hitting. there might be some confusion though because Ableton live lists all of their octaves one lower for some reason in the midi editor. An E0 in ableton is actually an E1.
Re: What freq does an E2 sine sub hit?
Check out this chart. E1 hits at 41.2034 and E2 hits at 82.4069. Of the two, I'd say go with E2. 41hz is too low for most systems to reproduce. You probably would have a hard time even hearing it well if you're using a pair of entry-level midfields.

go with E1 if you cant hear it, it sounds great trust me.
All about D1 tho tbh

This! E2 is too high, the chest thumping is octave lower.hutyluty wrote:NEVER!Fauster wrote:Check out this chart. E1 hits at 41.2034 and E2 hits at 82.4069. I can feel and hear E1 sine great on my $150 sennheiser headphones. They can go down to about D1Fauster wrote:Check out this chart. E1 hits at 41.2034 and E2 hits at 82.4069. E2 would completely clash with your kick
Re: What freq does an E2 sine sub hit?
I can hardly hear an E1 sine on my HS80Ms. The bass always clashes with the kick. That's what side-chaining is for.Justin Bays wrote:I can feel and hear E1 sine great on my $150 sennheiser headphones. They can go down to about D1Fauster wrote:Check out this chart. Sennheiser makes great products. The truth is, most people listening to your track will not be listening on a system that reproduces 41 hz.

You're telling me side-chaining your kick is the only way to stop it from clashing with a 41 hz sine? I'm not surprised your monitors don't have strong ~40 hz though. Those monitors aren't meant to.Fauster wrote:I can hardly hear an E1 sine on my HS80Ms. The bass always clashes with the kick. Re: What freq does an E2 sine sub hit?
Do you people seriously go this low for your subs? Most people aren't going to be able to hear it, isn't this taking away a lot of energy from the track that would be better spent an octave higher? Anyone know how low the 'pros' go?

Freshest track atm.
Re: What freq does an E2 sine sub hit?
well im making it for myself not anyone else and i like the sub to be hitting my chest, by having a sub at E2 or whatever then youre just gonna be clashing with the low midrange or whateverMaxxan wrote:Do you people seriously go this low for your subs? im pretty sure the sub here is C1 @2:50 yet it fits the tune perfectly
Re: What freq does an E2 sine sub hit?
No, I was talking about your statement of "the kick would clash with a 82hz sine".Justin Bays wrote:You're telling me side-chaining your kick is the only way to stop it from clashing with a 41 hz sine?
Right. And neither are most listener's systems.Justin Bays wrote:I'm not surprised your monitors don't have strong ~40 hz though. Those monitors aren't meant to.
I'm not saying using E1 is a shit idea. Of course this is all preference. I'm just saying, in my opinion, E2 works a lot better for most tracks.
