Need help getting to grips with Ohmicide
Hey guys
I am trying to get to learn ohmicide to add some more texture to my synths. Ive sat down with it for a few hours and cant get a logical flow with it on what to do! There so many dials, Will the manual for it actually help? Its pretty long as I wondered if theres a few go to dials or if its all vital. Normally i learn through video but theres nothing good on Ohmicide despite its popularity!
Basically I have my base synth, throw it on, all goes crazy. I try to adjust the mutiple bands but cant tell whats what and cant get any distinctive sort of destortion you would actually want out of it!
So just looking for some tips and guidance as from what I have been able to get from it makes me think it will be a massive advancement in my synths!

this is why our generation's fucked.Tiger Blood wrote:i hate reading!
you are seeking knowledge, knowledge that is contained in a manual.
i cannot stress how much i've learned through reading manuals

Start with a few dials at the time. Figure out which ones are frequency, and also click the display to change the view to frequency mode or w/e. Then figure out the master gain for each band (it's the big one). Then you have the phat/sharp dial for each band. Then, all the tiny knobs on each band are for your noise gate. You'll need that or you'll get a lot of feedback. Your basic noise gates knobs for thresh, amount, release etc. The little window with a X, O and something else is distortion type for that band. X is 3x meaning a lot more distortion, the first one is 'standard' mode and I can't remember the third one, think it might be 'weird' that just sounds different. Just try out different types, there are a lot of them. (Sorry if I got that last part wrong, cba looking up exactly how it looks). This is the basics, once you've got this down you can start getting into the really funky shit. You've got some knobs in the top right that do a helluva lot but I can't remember what it is they do right now though D:
But the part that I covered is like the basic distortion part. You'll want to figure out the multiband thing before you dive any deeper probably. From then on it's just experimenting really.

Freshest track atm.

thanks ive started work reading the manual as theres just to many parameters on it to figure out myself like compressors and transient plugins.Maxxan wrote:Start with a few dials at the time. I normally split my synths by 3 parts in my DAW (sub, bass, mid) would i only want to be putting the mid through ohmicide? and then is the multiband not pointless? as I wont be putting bass and sub through it..
