I recorded this mix in December 2009, immediately after recording a 2 hour funk & disco mix for a NYE bash I was to play at. I was relaxed, loose, and this went really well.
It starts off party hiphop with Devin, then into a dope joint from Manchester's finest Mr Scruff, then into Bassnectar, then 8 Bars of Fire which is a banging UK Hiphop joint, then into a killer beat from RJD2 with one of my favourite MC's, Aceyalone, riding the beat.
Then it goes off into a darker instrumental section, with an awesome beat from Ghost out of Auckland, with old school rave flavour. Then I drop an awesome track by Few Nolder, which I can't even classify, before finishing on "Shick" by Steve Bugg, minimal techno I think?
Tracklist
01. Party - Devin The Dude
02.The Clock - Mr Scruff
03. Swung Set - Bassnectar Vs. Breakbeat Buddah
04. 8 Bars Of Fire Remix - DJ IQ Feat. Jehst, Kyza, Tb, Dubbledge,Foreign Beggars, Stig Of The Dump, Kashmere, Verb T, Asaviour
05. Supahero - Aceyalone
06. Ying Yang - Ghost's Alter Ego
07. No Mo - Few Nolder
08. Shick - Steve Bug & Tanzmann
All of the mix rides around 115 bpm, and if this kind of music was dropped on a dope soundsystem with a good dancefloor, for me it would be going off. I honestly believe this is a slept on mix which fails to be easily categorised. So, if you're open-minded, enjoy...
