hugh wrote:why are you watching a show you don't like then posting in a thread about that show in the first place?
Because i started watching when i thought it was good and it gradually got worse and worse, i hated the gustavo fring character, but now i just said it looks like it will pick up again...

thought i could maybe find someone who would agree that it's gotten stale, and discuss those points and hopes for the rest of the season. Guess i'll just chill in the unpopular opinions thread.

well I agree that season 2-3 was the best. I liked the whole Fring thing though, I just think they've sorta jumped the shark a couple of times in the past couple of seasons.

"Here's what I think no one is getting. Gale didn't give the book to Walt. That's my guess anyway. We never actually saw Gale giving him the book. That's the impression they wanted to leave, but I think it was an intentionally misleading impression.
Gale and Walt talked about Leaves of Grass, and then we see Walt reading it. But we don't see Gale giving it to Walt. I think Walt had it already. If you noticed, it looked like a pretty old book; not something Gale would have bought recently and given to Walt (and he certainly wouldn't give Walt his only copy).
Who gave it to him, then? Gretchen. I had to google it, but Gretchen's maiden name was Black. Therefore also G.B.
And the inscription makes sense. And when Walt chuckles when he reads it, he's not chuckling while thinking of Gale; it's a rueful chuckle when he thinks about how he used to work with Gretchen at Gray Matter.
This also explains why Walt wouldn't destroy this book as he did the other evidence of his crimes; Gretchen gave it to him, he knows that, and doesn't think twice about it.
And so the big irony; Hank figures out who Walt is via a clue that shouldn't even have been a clue to begin with."
where did hank find the "clue"? they found it in gale's appartment alongside other evidences of the "Superlab". so this theory is totally wrong. how could they find a written note from gretchen in gales appartment?!

he's saying the note in the book came from Gretchen, the book in Walts house that Hank found
i think you might have just misread the point maybe?
GB is the sam

EDIT
Yeah I get it now.
Walt has a book signed by Gretchen which he obviously keeps at home. This is signed with "my other favorite W. W."
On Gale's confiscated note it says to "W.W, My Star, My Perfect silence".
=> The theory of it being an accidental discovery is valid: we never see Gale giving him a book. And he wouldn't chuckle when reading it seeing how horrified he was watching the DVD. Then again, the words are very Gale-esque: he even wrote like this in his notes.
But yeah, I get the reference now and find it plausible.

Gale's lab notebook that outlined the whole mega meth lab etc was going to be meant as a gift to Walt, at the front page it said To W.W. my star, my silence or something like that
the poetry book may have just been a gift to Walt from Gale off screen

There is no evidence to support that Gretchens maiden name was actually Black so I think the GB theory is weak. But Hank will probably still believe it if Walt did use it as an excuse.
Hank is in a tricky position now because even if he does get any substantial evidence to convict Walt the DEA wont be impressed to learn that 'Heisenberg' was actually under his nose the whole time.

Wasn't that just a flashback from season 4, when him and Hank are looking through the lab notes?

Maybe people are analysing things a bit too closely but here is a comparison between Gales note and the writing in the book.

The hand writing looks slightly different to me.

I would plot the seasons as an inverse bell curve with Seasons 1 and 5 Part 1 being my favorite, seasons 2 and 4 being pretty good and season 3 being average at best.
