Bun Dem drop sound, type of distortion?

Post by Fluxit » Thu Sep 06, 2012 4:36 pm

I've been trying to make this sound (the main drop sound) for about 10-11 hours, the closest ive gotten is Sampling a modulated scream filter with some massive bitcrushing, then some whoopy pitchbend and lots of FX, but it lacks the clarity that this has, the piercing distortion or something....

does anyone recognize the type of distortion used on this sound? or have any tips or hints on how you might have gotten it?

When I was listening to the stems, I actually thought "fuck me this is overdistorted badly", but tbh I didn't notice it in the actual track.

theres a way 2 do it with massive alone, relying on the scream filter & playing a low octave note but having the res on pretty damn high.
and yeah skrillex has released stems for it. its not a difficult sound tbh.
