Free MILES DAVIS Beats

Post by StrangeFlow » Thu Sep 06, 2012 6:01 pm

so, I realize some of ya might say "this is dubstepforum, nerd, this isn't jazzhiphopforum. nerd"

fair enough, but I always enjoy some jazzy chill dub style shit, and when I want some aggressive dubstep, I like 6blocc, and some of the heavy hip hop influences...

anyway, enough rationalizing, if y'all don't like this, that's alright  the point is---- here's 20 free samples, sampled from the tune 'Round Midnight' by Miles Davis, the jazz legend. This tune is copyright-free at this point, so don't worry bout the legal aspects of it, you won't get sued for using any of these, blah blah blah .... some of them are really smooth n jazzy, a few turned out rather ruckus-ee, reminding me of Public Enemy or some other cool oldschool shit. So, basically, 20 jazz sample-happy hip hop loops for ya. I cut em just a few days ago. Hope someone likes em, or has ideas after hearing these, or something :)

Dude, this is glorious, been wanting to sample a couple of these legends for some time. Can't wait to get home and try these out. Are you sure they've fallen out of copyright though, isn't it like movies where the labels refresh it every now and then or are the rules different for music?

Would love to get my hands on some Coltrane too btw, if you should happen to have any of that stuff lyin' around.

"So, you might be wondering what this sample pack is all about. Basically, I recorded 20 new royalty-free breaks, each containing different samples from the Miles Davis tune, ‘Round Midnight. The song is in the public domain, so feel free to use these loops anyway you see fit."

looks like someone re-recorded some Miles Davis? Still probably sounds nice

Downloaded and almost immediately deleted.
StrangeFlow wrote:Originally, I was hoping to use these samples in another one of my products, (the HUGE ‘StrangeFlow’s Authentic Electro Swing Samples,’ package) but the problem was… well, this song just isn’t really swinging at all. It’s from 1955, a time when big band & swing were definitely on the decline; but jazz music, overall, was still very interesting!
I also had a bit of a chuckle on your blog about this line.

First of all Round Midnight is a ballad. No, this is not a big band, this is a Quintet. Also one of the most swinging quintets ever. The band keeps a lot of space open for Miles' solo since this is a slow ballad and Miles often liked to have some space but then the rhythm section of Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones and Red Garland kick it up a notch before John Coltrane begins his solo. It is def swinging, but once again, this is a ballad.

you can actually get a 3-4 cd (forget how many) miles compilation of original recordings transfered straight to cd from most shitty cd places like walmart for a couple bucks

Which ones you got mang?

I'm on a huge electric Miles kick right now. For years I have been influenced by that period of his, roughly 1969-1975. Reading a book about that period right now and it's making me go and re-explore a lot of those records. Currently getting bumped is Live At the Fillmore East from 1970.

Or just rip your parents record collection, and keep a copy for yourself as payment :6:

Do you know the track form the 70's thats got a sitar in it, a shit ton of delay, and sounds kinda like 90's dnb?

Edit: Sitar is in the intro then it drops hard with drums, and electric bass???

Everyone's wrong.

Miles Davis is quite populair music, you can easily steal it on the web somewhere.
You could buy it, but where is that money going?

3za, that tune that you are talking about might actually be this one: Great Expectations from the Big Fun album. Another great record.

Deadly, those albums he did with Gil Evans are amazing. Gil was such a talented arranger.
