Has anyone used binaural beats in their song?

I'm just wondering if anyone tried splitting up some of their parts into a left and right track, and altering one of the tracks by a few cents to get a binaural beats effect? I'm experimenting with it now; I think it might produce some interesting feeling to my music.

fuck that.. i used to try this binaural drug-simulation music.. WHICH, SUPPOSEDLY, could induce different types of highs by efffecting you're brain waves or something. Too bad it didn't work..

actually I did pan hihats in a remix i jsut did. super-fast trap hihat runs, and i panned them hard L+R in a rhythmic pattern and it sounded pretty ok

Some people are affected by it more than others. It hardly affects me, but last night it worked pretty well.

I've used binaural elements in my songs, gives it some serious depth. But I've not made a song purely in a binaural fashion.

Just to clear things up. Binaural beats =/= binaural recordings. I haven't dabbled into binaural beats, but I'm very into binaural recording though.

I've messed with "binaural beats" in WIPs that never made it past the alpha stage. You can get a nice, calming effect in your sounds by using that concept.

That happened to me once while listening to the Mount Fuji Doomjazz corporation. Woke up to a whole track of just horror-movie noises and ambience. Was pretty fucked since I fell asleep listening to some smooth dark jazz, really weird experience.

Anyway, I never tried it but I think I might do that. Pretty cool idea. Any tips on what types of sounds work well for this? If i understand correctly they need to be below 1000 hz so that rules a lot out. I guess percussive sounds could work. Binaural reese maybe?

Well, that's sort of my point but I guess I worded it poorly. There's a lot of talk about panning high hats etc which technically isn't incorrect as binaural just means having two ears, so it is of course related to panning and the origin of the sound etc, but it's different from what's being discussed here. Anyway, doesn't really matter. Words are hard :C

BTW, is there a lot of music that's made with this in mind? I haven't really looked and I can imagine there's a bunch of relaxation tapes and whatnot but I mean like in actual, commercial (more or less) music.

Yes you are right, it means using two ears, but real binaural audio is 3d sound (when using cans ofcourse) where panning is just one dimension. Therefore i'd say it's technically incorrect to say 'as in panned left right'. Panning is just normal stereo. But yeah like you said, it doesn't really matter as this is off topic.



I am definitely interested in this topic (OP) and it's possibilities. I would appreciate if anyone who has some knowledge on this could point me to some good reading material. If not, i'll go on a hunt myself.

Binaural stuff is fucking awesome, but only really works with headphones so I've never really thought to use it in my music, which is something designed more for systems and speaker setups I suppose
