Re: New respect for 'Brostep'
there is nothing wrong with subgenre brostep, when you start getting into deathstep, moombahcore step trapstaep, thats taking it too far. You ever think how many subgenres are in rock? noone says anything about those. Alternative rock, heavymetal, death metal, deathcore, metalcore, acid rock, classic rock. etc

Re: New respect for 'Brostep'
There really isn't much to dubstep and brostep in the first place. They are both just bass music with the same drum pattern. Tell me what me what they don't share in common, I'd like to know.ehbrums1 wrote:Because at this point the only thing that dubstep and brostep share in common is 140 bpmItalus wrote:And why is that?ehbrums1 wrote:no brostep needs to be separate
Re: New respect for 'Brostep'
The drum patterns are not te same...go listen to some Shackleton and tell me it sounds anything like ya boy zomby and doctor pItalus wrote:There really isn't much to dubstep and brostep in the first place. we dont need to share the drum patterns
dubstep needs the atmosphere and vibe imo
we do share the bpm at times but...

Re: New respect for 'Brostep'
What I mean by drum pattern is the 2-step beat that makes dubstep and brostep what it is, that is why they have the word "step" in them. Shackleton does have a 2-step beat, so there for it is the same as brostep. They do both have a totally different vibe to them, and I can see why people like them separate. But to me, and many others they both will be called dubstep. Yes I do tend to go to the more bro-steppier side of dubstep, but I've made quite a few traditional dubstep tracks as well. More people like the more energetic brostep so I post that on my soundcloud for first impression. I keep my regular dubstep to myself.

Re: New respect for 'Brostep'
I don't see in any way how that is stupid. "Brostep" is more energetic and less repetitive. I dont hear traditional dubstep tunes on the beatport top 100. I'm sorry if I can't have my own opinion and a friendly argument.ehbrums1 wrote:your fucking stupid i give up..

I'm not having this debate.. And frankly it's why I hate brostep fanboys... They're fucking uneducated about dubstep and music in general

Re: New respect for 'Brostep'
Well the first track is complete shit.... By energy I mean more stuff is happening/going on. So yes, I can honestly tell you that it does have more energy than the kryptic minds track (It's no where near as good though). I know plenty of people who rather listen to the first track then the second. There was no reason to get offensive about it, we all have our own opinions. And I am no where near a brostep fanboy nor am I saying which is better, I'm just stating how in my opinion it's all the same dubstep, brostep, drumstep, grimestep, etc... And I think personally that all these subgenres are stupid. But obviously they will never change.ehbrums1 wrote:and on that whole brostep has more energy bullshit.

KId you're arguing with literally has 7k posts here. He spends more time posting about music than making it. Elitist butt-hurts. Dubstep is dubstep.Italus wrote:

Re: New respect for 'Brostep'
Energy in a track is not defined by how many noises it has crammed into it. The tempo of the drums compared to the tempo of the song do not define a genre.
You're essentially comparing drum and bass to hardcore because they're both around 170 bpm and have a full drum pattern. It's ridiculous, dubstep and brostep are so drastically different it's lunacy to seriously consider them the same genre.
