That fact alone will limit the motion.
Or am I just being confused.
could gravity not be a driving force? or magnets?
to be fair i know fuck all about physics, just bored.
Gravity wouldn't quite work, in a pure system you'd still have all the energy from the object falling turned into potential energy once it reached the top of its cycle in order to fulfill the laws of thermodynamics. So your net would be 0.

The only way gravity would work is if you have an outside system providing energy. For example, the sun evaporates water and then it rises and falls as rain. Then it makes streams and waterfalls and you can use waterwheels and stuff.

Magnets I'm sure work through a similar principal, but I'm not sure of the equations and terms and stuff. Basically it boils down to "energy cannot be created or destroyed."

nowaysj wrote:Well how have electrons been spinning since the first instant of the big bang, you'd think they'd start to wind down. Just be like pools of electrons on the floor?
electrons only stop spinning when they have zero energy which doesn't really happen unless you can keep it under zero pressure and zero degrees........

on a side note, people may find this TED Talk very interesting. It is the first step in a huge paradigm shift for human technology.

This guy has created a quantum structure that can both vibrate and not vibrate in a quantum state simultaneously. Really big big tings a gwan here.

In terms of this thread...what does it mean? Well, if you can have a structure that is both in an energetic state and a none energetic state, there is a possibility that this structure could be a source of a near free and infinite energy. It can provide kinetic motion in an energy-less environment, it can provide sound energy in a soundless environment, it can provide vibrational energy in from an zero input energy-less state. However, due to the nature of quantum mechanics, an observation causes a transitional shift to either all-vibrational or all-static. If science can find a way to harness this energy without observing it, then we are onto some seriously amazing things. If not, back to square one.

p.s. all those perpetual motion videos are crap.
The first video - the self filling flask is using gravitational acceleration and simple volume displacement to continuously refill itself. Come back to me when he repeats that experiment with 1/10th of the volume of liquid he was using. The uphill wheel is just an optical illusion, and a very lame cheap trick if you ask me! Again, the spinning wheel is just using the gravitational energy of the marbles to generate a centrifugal force. It's not perpetual motion.

They are very nice and clever designs but none of them actually depict true perpetual motion. The moment you try to attach a generator to it that has to do work against an electric field, the whole thing goes tits up.

so you can spew that bullshit, but you cant come up with 6 adj. to describe yourself, let alone come up with the brilliant idea to look at a thesaurus?

seriously man. seriously.
a raise of hands who ACTUALLY studies the sciences?

key point to that Simpson's Video......
the acceleration is constant, which is why he says "faster and faster". You will note in all those videos there is no acceleration or decceleration of any object, and that it always needs an initial "push" to get going.
A perpetual motion machine will accelerate continuously, which is why you should be able to harness energy from it. It is the fact that the energy loop in those videos result in a net gain of 0 energy that makes them non-perpetual.

Think hugh and lace are going to have to resolve this according to hallowed snh tradition: submission hot oil wrestling. It is the only way really, guys.

And yes lace, that was funny, and hugh, chill it! I've got a new adjective for your application: beefy!

How was it funny, she was just being smarmy for no reason other than to provoke a response. It was stupid and nothing else.
