Re: Scientific evidence for God existence.
i'm down with the idea that there may be things beyond our understanding ... but wondering whether that would include a god is likely trying to comprehend the incomprehensible - and tends to drag in a bunch of idea from the nearest traditional religion to hand ... when all i wanted was a bit of modesty in the face of the vastness & complexity of the universe ...

Well said Marcus, there definitely will only be two types of god if any. Waiting for your response SCope13 or do you want to join Mr Aurelius in eternal punishment?

Re: Scientific evidence for God existence.
I'll join Aurelius. If god is going to punish people for thinking critically and having a few qualms with a guy that told someone to kill his own son, then yeah he can go fuck himself.

where does the sewage & rubbish go to? is hell sustainable?
can the forks be used as tuning forks?
could you bribe the little red guys?
wouldn't masochists enjoy it?

Re: Scientific evidence for God existence.
No catering, no food, eternal hunger= hunger strike futile.tyger wrote:_v_ wrote:Yes, please continue...tyger wrote:do they ever get the red uniforms laundered? where is the laundrette?_v_ wrote:SCope13 wrote:define hell.

no Laundry, dirty clothes everyday, god has that good washing powder for the bright whites...
Minimum wage, high taxes. No breaks, no punching the clock, no sackings, There is no escapeing the eternal shift.

sewage goes everywhere, theres lakes and rivers of it, its how you get around.
Hell is doing a good job of being sustainable, eternity is quite an achievement.
No in tune tunes in Hell = no tuning forks unfortunately.
you can try, but wont do any good.
Masochists get sent to heaven, a sort of reverse Hell loophole.
...
I thought this stuff was common knowledge?
Now worship me, I am your Messiah!
you can worship by giving me whiskey & weed.

Just because we don't understand something doesnt mean GOD AND JESUS DID IT.
And yeah, of course a god is possible. I 100% do not believe in the Christian god though, and wouldn't worship him even if he was real.[/quote]
I wasn't trying to promote any particular traditional religion... and my personal ideology goes beyond rationality for stuff happening on Earth, since I'm of the belief that humankind should be responsible for their own actions.
I'm all for finding things through science and understanding things, but I was just pointing out that science is based on logical experience on things we can observe and see. Any theoretical mass that exists in multiple dimensions or lives on another plane of existence entirely is therefore impossible for us to even detect unless we were to make such a jump in evolution as well.
There's a scientific theory, though it's more metaphysical, called transcension hypothesis which was posted here a while back. It's so wild and far-fetched that it hasn't got much ground in the scientific community, but the notion that there are parts of the universe completely inaccessible to us and that higher forms of intelligence live on these transcended planes is intriguing.
Compare this to the idea of a pretty sketch on a paper. It's pretty, but it's ultimately two-dimensional. All the things in it know is two-dimensions - the boundaries of the paper are the boundaries of its universe. It can only see in the colours that it has been drawn in.
Could the drawings, if they were alive, even fathom the idea of a three-dimensional universe? Let alone the idea that all they were was a sketch on a paper, one of hundreds in the artist's portfolio?

It's weird how similar many traditional religions are... though conceivably, if a god has made contact with humanity and they wrote it down it would be impossible for petty human ideas to fully synthesise the nature of such a being. Hence we attempt to rationalise, humanise and personalise one, creating a god with human ideals since a god that is metahuman is beyond our understanding. They try to grasp at the nature of 'god' by comparing it to what they know best.tyger wrote:i'm down with the idea that there may be things beyond our understanding ... but wondering whether that would include a god is likely trying to comprehend the incomprehensible - and tends to drag in a bunch of idea from the nearest traditional religion to hand ... when all i wanted was a bit of modesty in the face of the vastness & complexity of the universe ...

Perfect, im not fussy.tyger wrote:i only have whisky (i.e. scotch not irish)
Re: Scientific evidence for God existence.
But WHY is god too complex to understand? Do you know how much the human mind can handle? What is the limit to what we can understand? If the idea of a god is too complex then how do you know its too complex? Is is not possible that a creator is actually amazingly simple?
And the idea of hell was created to scare children in to behaving themselves, i seriously hope none of you actually believe it.
