well, a lot of what ppl say about god is self-contradictory, rather than complex ... mostly, the problem is that they are trying to make god too like human beings - which just doesn't work, so they end up talking nonsense ... sometimes saying god is beyond our understanding is a cop-out excuse for all the blatant contradictions ... if we don't understand what we're talking about, we should stfu.Dub_freak wrote:But WHY is god too complex to understand?
it's fine to say there may be stuff beyond our understanding .. that seems likely enuff to me ... but is (some of) that stuff god? ... er ... surely that's not answerable.
but if we stick to what we can understand, wotavwegot? ... we can imagine very powerful and/or very benevolent beings, etc, but that is not qualitatively different from humans, so it doesn't get you to a god ... the only option i can see is to admit no separation between god and the universe (i.e. pantheism) - which is like atheism but with a different attitude.
