Maybe you could answer a question for me then. Why is it that European white kids feel the need to dress up like urban American black kids?

I mean, here stateside we have suburban white kids who feel like if they dress a certain way, walk a certain way, talk a certain way ... they'll be taken for something they're not: an urban gang banger. Most don't know where these styles come from or what they mean, they just associate them with "cool" ... but a lot of that has to do with race relations, and where I am in the states (I go between KC MO and NOLA) that's 300 years of history, 300 years worth of mostly mistakes to undo.

But that's white kids in America. What's your excuse in Europe? Obviously the American trends are to be imitated, but frankly "because the yanks do it" seems like a ridiculous line of (non-)thinking. Kind of like what you'd expect from a bored, sheltered suburban adolescent.

So I have to imagine there's a higher line of reasoning and that's what I'm asking for. So what gives?

It is a well known fact Skrillex and cohorts aren't well liked here on this forum. I might only be and 18 year old boy who apparantly dresses like someone who i am clearly not - but that doesn't change the fact that i have been listening to dubstep since 2008 and i have been an active part of the scene in Denmark since 2009 playing more gigs than you ever will, promoting a label, promoting the whole bass scene in Denmark, working hard to help put on parties, interacting with the likes of Skream, Benga, Pokes, Joker, N-Type, Caspa, TC, Rusko, Jakes, Distance, LD, etc, etc - Point is that i know a thing or two about what i'm saying - now fuck off to the dubs section.
