On September 29th with the help of Red Bull Music Academy we will welcome to Plan B two living legends of house music alongside some artists who are reinventing the music that these legends helped forge.
First up is Chez Damier – who has played close witness to many of the pivotal moments in the history of house and techno. Jointly responsible with partner Ron Trent for both Prescription Records - widely recognised as one of the greatest labels of all time - and The Morning Factory - one of the most ethereal jams ever to rock a room - Chez Damier carries abound the soul of house music and we are proud to welcome him to Plan B.
Joining him will be Rick ‘The Godson’ Wilhite. With two decades of service to Detroit’s house music scene, both behind the shop counter and the decks, there’s no doubting Rick "The Godson" Wilhite’s position as one of the central characters in Detroit’s heritage. Recent quality releases/reissues on Amsterdam’s Rush Hour as well as breaking of new talent such as Andres and Kyle Hall means The Godson’s sets of low slung, emotive house are more in demand than ever.
Rounding off the night in the main room will be South London’s Jam City. Classic Curves for is the best Night Slugs release yet, as well as surely one of the best albums of the year and we are excited to hear the juxtaposition of his avant-garde style and track selection alongside Chez's and Rick's more classic leanings.
In the basement we are delighted to welcome Italian native and New York resident Madteo to play an extended 3 hour live/dj set. Madteo, real name Matteo Ruzon, cites New York nightlife and Detroit as major influences in his musical upbringing. As a result his style represents a blend of deep, spacious house, with elements of hip hop, new wave and italo. Recent productions have seen releases on Workshop and Joy Orbison's Hinge Finger imprint, with the latest offering coming on Meaksyma featuring remixes from Detroit pioneers Marcellus Pittman and Anthony 'Shake' Shakir.
Alongside him will be London producer Citizen, one of the emerging artists signed to Kerri Chandler's MadTech Records. Having caught our eye with calculated remixes of the likes of Whitney Houston, Kp & Envi and Adeva, Citizen's authentic update on 90's house and techno makes him the perfect candidate to keep the room bumping.
Last but by no means least will be DJ, producer and Red Bull Music Academy graduate Mr Beatnick. He has become notable for a broad and eclectic selection of musical genres during his broadcasts, while his recent cuts of blissful deep house on the Sun Goddess and Sythetes EPs are some of our favorite records of this year.
