My brother went there recently,I shall ask him. Intrested in going myself.
Re: Berlin
Berlin is great! Went there last year can't really help you with hotels as we stayed at a quite fancy hotel.
Re: Berlin
Any hostel. But here are some people offering a room (or apartment): https://www.airbnb.com/s/Berlin--Germany

Re: Berlin
I highly recommend http://www.waytostay.com/ for apartments. Went to berlin with 4 other people in April and I got an apartment from there.
Subway station right at the door, 2 stops from Alexanderplatz, and from there you can go pretty much everywhere very fast.
It was also on a 15-20 minute walk from both Berghain and Tresor. 3 nights/4 days, €250 euros in total so €50p/p which is pretty cheap!
Some other friends went to Budapest and got their apartment from there. Same story, very cheap and very good location etc.

Re: Berlin
wow there are some pretty nice cheapish places on there! am thinking a hostel by myself might be a bit of a risk so will probably go with that.

Is being fluent in German a necessity for visiting Berlin?

Re: Berlin
Not really. Enough people there know English. Knowing a bit of German certainly won't hurt though.

Re: Berlin
stopped there when i was travelling to outlook, stayed at wombats hostel - was OK priced (like 20 quid a night?) for Berlin and was pretty decent in terms of a hostel, had a bar upstairs and had a print out of time out with whats on on those nights in the city (managed to catch Pinch whilst i was there coz of this) - definitely worth a gander. Check it on hostelworld or something.

Well it'll be a few years before I ever consider making a trip to Berlin, working on French right now...I'll probably continue taking that in college. Maybe I'll work some German in somewhere along the line.
