camelcrusher is a great free distortion plugin. instead of just going ape shit on the saturation or distortion knob, do it gently once, bounce down the sound, rinse and repeat until you get a nice distorted sound. that's resampling. you can try just applying distortion to the mid and highs, leaving the low band untouched so you get a huge mid range with a nice and clean low end.

separate frequencies, simple delay, delay right channel by 15-25 ms on mid's and highs. M/s Eqing on highs. Apply mild distortion with high drive. Center and compress your subs.

I play my bass really loud, put a mic in a deep fat fryer and record it back into my daw. Fattens it up nicely.

<3 sausage fattener. But sometimes i feel like other methods of distortion are better and cleaner sounding, i feel like they fatten it, but dont over-fatten it. if ya get what i mean.

i say fatten that bass w/ sausage fattener unless you find that multiband distortion + compression + layering sounds better. but if your looking for a one knob dealy, then sausage fattener gon fatten det sheet. :corntard:
