:D Another free modular language is Pure Data, but it is a stand-alone.

I was hoping to start writing VSTs in code. You can get the C++ SDK from the Steinberg website.

haha, I'm only up to the point of creating simple synths, samplers etc..

I can see that it gets very complicated down the road. What with the math formulas

Math isn't really more difficult to program, it's kind of just its own thing to study. I don't see where you would need calculus anyway, just an understanding of triginometry (sine waves).

I used this at college but dont have it at home, might have to invest. Making your own synth doesn't sound simple though?

There are integrate, and differentiate modules in the primary level, so there definitely is a place for calculus in Reaktor. Though the only thing I have ever used them for is to FSU, by running audio through a load of different maths modules

A good understanding of all branches of maths helps in programming Reaktor.

I have made my own synth in Reaktor. Nothing spectacular, just a basic 2 Oscillator, 2 Envelope analogue type synth.

I have gotten some good sounds out of it that has made it into some music, it was a good experience and at least I can say that I built my own synth in Reaktor.

Now its back to using other people's instruments, people who are far more talented at programming stuff like this than I am.

Reaktor Tutorials now up

http://www.nireaktor.com/category/reaktor-tutorials/

There's only a few up just now but the site just went up a couple of days ago - loads coming.

There's also a free course walking you through how to build a synth in Reaktor when you subscribe.
We'll be building into that synth over the coming months.

Enjoy!
