lol i guess my parents did it right! and I always gripe about them not getting me into sports at an early age! (try to play lacrosse, but I'm terrible--> and karting/ race car driving is my absolute dream (besides being a musician... MAYBE I CAN DO BOTH )Eat Bass wrote:^ i hear that man i wish my parents got me into music.mikeyp wrote:i'm in the same boat, kind of. i think i've learned enough to where i can write without thinking about it but it always still gets me stuck when it comes to writing out an original full piece.
one thing i know, is that someday my kids are getting fucking piano lessons.
I've been playing piano for 11 years (since I was 5), and one of my parents' good friends is an amazing teacher (didn't learn from him, but my mom worked with him for a bit) He's got some books which IMHO are good.
This is primarily theory, with a bit of keyboard learning mixed in--> http://paulsheftel.com/?page_id=1171
This is the companion book to the above one, with a focus on keyboard skills-->http://paulsheftel.com/?page_id=2056
the 2nd one might be a bit too hard, idk (b/c I don't have the book with me and I haven't laid eyes on it in years) , but I'm sure amazon will let you return them if you so please.)
Can't really help you with ear training right now, but shoot me a PM and I'll ask my mom or Paul or both what they think the best way to learn is. BTW the track in your sig is schweet so I don't think you should worry so much.
Good luck!
