When you eat chilli/spicy food and it "clears your sinus/nose"....

Is it actually doing that or does it just create an excess somehow, like how it can make you sweat....?

capsaicin is a vasodilator, it expands your blood vessels and i think is partially responsible for that feeling. and it also irritates your mucus membranes, making them produce more. the fresh mucus i imagine sort of flushes out the nasty stuff and gives you that clear feel
