Neuromancer Movie

Post by firky » Sun Oct 07, 2012 8:51 pm

Hell yeah :W:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/filmblog ... euromancer
"I won't dumb down Neuromancer," Natali said. "There would be no point in making that version. We've seen things like that before. What is exciting about William Gibson's vision in 2010 is how prescient it was. He really anticipated the post-human world. And I think we are entering that world very quickly. So, what draws me to the book – and what I think the film will offer that we haven't seen before in the cinema – is an in-depth exploration of our growing relationships to the cybernetic universe. If Splice is about the evolution of our bodies, then Neuromancer will be about the evolution of our minds."

Been waiting on this for years too, deep down hoping it doesn't ever happen, but still kinda wanting it to.
Kinda iffy on both Neeson & Wahlberg. They are usually either really good or awful. Liam is in just so many stinkers these days, seems every other movie has him.

Yeah Gibson had said a few times if someone was going to do it, he wanted Cunningham, and I think he even shopped a screenplay around a few years back. It's seeming more like if it happens it's gonna be a big budget Hollywood production now though.

Could be good, but could be fucked up too. I dont know why sci-fi gets so little attention from the big studios, and how they manage to pick the most boring stories out there. I mean.. Jumper, really?

Just finished the book. Hyped for the movie now, although I agree Wahlberg seems like an odd choice.

seems nobody is a fan of marky mark playing case...

surely they did casting & auditions whatever & maybe he just played the part best?

idk, im not convinced either, though I think he might pull it off...

I cant think of any one else tbh, keep thinking of Keanu Reeves...

Who would you have?

Keanu Reeves is the fucking worst. I'd much rather see Mark Wahlberg, or even one of those Twilight guys over Keanu Reeves.
I'd prefer them doing a casting call for unknowns. I always like seeing unknown actors instead of the same people over and over.

Matrix was fucking class and pulls a lot from Neuromancer.

Haha I always thought it sucked. Well, the first one wasn't as bad, but I don't like them mostly because of Keanu's anti-acting though.

Yeah I should have said "all I can think of is Keanu Reeves, but that wouldnt be good" or something like that because thats what I was thinking anyway...

and yeah ive read the book and realize how much of it was taken into the Matrix... which is prob why I keep picturing Keanu...

Yeah, I agree with the idea of casting an unknown...

Anyone know this director? Hope he dosnt make a balls of this...

He needs to get the visuals & atmosphere right

Chris Cunningham could be "cinematographer" or something which would be good...
