I made this with FL Studio

Soundcloud

I recently got a macbook though so FL is kind of off the grid for me sadly... I'm sure theres ways around it but I decided to get ableton live anyways it's quite different in terms of work flow and stuff and I really know next to nothing about it so far.... FL studio is a great DAW though.

I'm having trouble producing anything with ableton.... kinda blows, but I did just get it so perhaps in do time something worthwhile will come out of it.

why would you think you cant make dubstep with FL? You can make Dubstep with any DAW as far as im concerned i just think it might be slightly harder to do in FL but hell i have caustic DAW on my phone (which sucks btw) but i make some pretty cool sounding tunes on it even dubstep wobbles, if you have effects and a cut off nob in on your synth you can make a type of dubstep (might be shitty but you can pull it off) anyways the fact that you think you cant make Dubstep on FL studio is ridiculous not trying to be rude but thats ridiculous :)

Whats the problem using FL, I don't understand. You can use the same plugins and effects as any other DAW. You can write, produce, automate, mix and master etc... Also countless well known producers making dubstep, house, and generic EDM all use FL.

Always makes me chuckle how these threads go for multiple pages...not like we've had this discussion hundreds of times before?

Any genre can be made on any platform/DAW by any producer given enough patience & practice.

Patients and practice is key. I must remember this when i feel I'm getting no where. Thanks for the reminder wub.

I'm glad these threads don't pop up as often as they did just a couple years ago. I think the majority of the responses will always be the same so there's no point in repeating it.

As much as I love FL I do wish it came with some better plugins. Some of them are great, and IL is doing a great job improving them, but there are some that just seem redundant or just not up to par with even some free plugins I use. That's probably the one complaint I have against it. After demoing many of the other DAWs out there the VSTs that come with them just seem to be superior. There's almost no need to go outside of the box for a lot of them.

In terms of synths, Image line makes some awesome ones (Sytrus, Harmless, Poizone) but cannot keep up with synths like Massive, FM8, Sylenth, z3ta etc...

In terms of mixing plugins, Parametric EQ2, fruity limiter, maximus, multiband compressor, soft clipper, stereo shaper and wave candy are all awesome.

Effects are all pretty good, although I'd like to see IL come up with a better distortion plugin. Plugins like gross beat, vocodex and newtone are lots of fun aswell. And x-y controller acts just like abletons macros.

I agree... I still use FL's native plugins and synths a lot. EQ2 is basically the only EQ I use outside of Ozone, same goes for FL Limiter.

I actually only use ozone for the harmonic exciter, since you can load it up independantly. Ableton's EQ doesn't even have a visualisation, I can't imagine using an EQ without one. So handy.

The synths in this song were all made using FL native plugins, besides the scream synth which is massive. The vowel synths are Harmless. So surprised what I could get out of that beast.

Though that might amuse some people.

i think i saw it on music radar or something but apparently Fl studio is the number one rated daw, which strikes me as odd considering ableton is the industry standards. I love FL studio i started this post over rumors that i didnt believe were true and now i know the truth FL studio kicks ass! period! :W:
