current fave for anything saturation is the soundtoys decapitator.

tbh if i could only have 1 plugin to use for a mix, that'd be it. it does damn near everything.

Listen to a range of character filled band based music, tune your senses to what character and tone in a recording actually is, apply that acquired sense to your electronic output. If your don't have an ear for what exactly warmth and character is in that context then you have no chance in implementing it in your own music. Once that is firmly embedded in your mind you won't have to think twice about sculpting that sound with your own music, you'll naturally just gravitate towards realising it.

Decapitator, ferric tds, satson, psp vw, tessla se, tessela pro etc. Google it and you will find lots of options. All of these are favourites of mine and all have their individual uses. If I was on mac I'd be on the air windows plugs as well.

I did this 30 seconds riddim experimenting with a lot of stuff you suggested. It's very simple obviously and I pushed every FX to ridiculous levels but I had fun
