@mthrfnk
Astralite
intro is fantastic. scary as hell. love it. not really a big fan of those kinds of snares, but it works and is surely punchy enough. The kick, though, is pretty weak yet. love the fills and reverse snares. great tune.

Waterfront
love the synth that kicks in at 1:13
its probably too late to really change it that drastically, but using rain in 2 songs, i don't believe to be the best idea. other than that i love it.

@burgeamon
drop is actually really cool. great synth. pretty muddy mix though.

@abide
don't know that i enjoy the vocal at the beginning, but holy shit. that bass is incredible. second set of notes at 1:00 sound wrong to me.

@sigmund floyd
love the piano. huge track. 1:08-1:09 is awesome

@sonnyFnD
sweet first part. the synths in the drop are just not as well designed as in the intro. they sound a little too messy. up until the drop, the track is perfect. great ending.

@goochrock13
intro is way long. really minimalistic sounding track.

heres mine
made some changes as well as added more after the drop(s).

@pain table: i feel the intro bass is a bit too much detuned, it's feels a bit annoying. the snare sounds really well same goes for the kick, the build up to the drop is nicely done. I like the background sounds. the stabs feel like the have a bit too much room on the reverb, too far in the background. the kick during the second breakdown is a bit me, do like the synth sound there. it's a bit short and the end is well missing something.

@mthrfnk: astralite: rain, always works in intro's. love the girl voice far in the background, same goes for piano, intro sounds really dark well done. llove the slowly coming in o the snare(clap?) the speech sample is really well done and nice build up to the orchestra. the drums after that just, naw not feeling them. really disliking the sound of them, not really giving a oomph too it. this would actuaklly work well for a movie intro. but the beat itself really needs to get some work done :)

waterfront:this beat is sounding way better, the kick is nice, I do think the clap could be a bit more there in the mix itself. can stand out a bit more. the synth is really nice and fits the atmosphere. like the use of nature sounds but do watch out it's not used too much. the build up to the second part is a bit strange(noticed someone else is saying the same thing)

@burgeamon: haha, fresh prince, it's nice and funky, but that's what you get when you take that track is base. can't say a lot about it really.

@abide: love those eastern sounds in the beginning, the vocal sample is waayy to loud imo. nice and dark this. really feeling the eastern vobes. the part of 0.44 to 0.45 with the synth not feeling that. the part at 1.00 feels a bit odd and off in the song. same goes for 1.18 for synth and percussion. love that cowbell use there. all in all intresting song.

i've got 2 new tracks i've been working on a lot
first: madness, tribal style.

second: circe, more dark/dungeon vibes

paintable:
Awesome intro, i felt like a metal song was gonna kick in after them hats :)
can't feel the sub, i know its there, but its not as in your face as i'd expect for a heavy tune..
Really liked the ending, but i felt like it could maybe go on for longer (i think it would really suit building up for an extra minute, maybe with some sort of layered break kicking in). Also it comes in very suddenly with no sort of indication that its gonna change, that might be intended though.

wewuk
madness
not much to criticize really
at about 2min there's a hit that comes in that's panned too hard to the right if you ask me, its a little bit annoying because it puts the track off balance if you know what i mean... i am listening on my headphones though..
I really like the bass progression after 2.25 it gives the tune some direction. Maybe you could use it again near the end..

mthfnk
Waterfront:

This is really sounding awesome now dude, nicely done :)
i agree that the clap could be a little louder in the mix though, it would really give the tune a more dancey vibe.
i feel like the distorted bass is very 'leashed'. Perhaps you could unleash it a little at some point in the tune (try it it might not work though).
Generally sounding really very very good though, and its right up my street too.

my tune needs a lot of work, i'm aware of that..
A few things i have noticed about it:
the vocal might get a bit annoying.
the breakdown section might go on for too long
the intro is barely even there, it needs alot of work

@Pain Table

you are good at drops. I think you should vary the wobble tone. It's consistently scratchy distorted. You should mix up the overdrive on it so it doesn't feel so repetitive. I like the synth stabs towards the end. Snare is pretty epic. Cymbals sound nice too.

@JockMCPlop

I think you've got some nice sub tones here. The mid level percussion was nicely done. Wouldn't mind a nice subtle snare in there so I can groove easier. The kick drum puts me off tempo a bit, but maybe that is your intention. I like the vocals. I think you are on track here.

@mthrfnk

Interesting tune here. Personally, I think your snare is too processed. I think the kick and snare are just a tad too punchy. The cymbals have nice tone. The side chaining white noise is a nice element. Is this a Lion King remix? lol. I'm not going to lie, I think your older version of the track is way better for listening. The kick sounds bomb.

@SonnyFnD

I think this is a good brostep song. I think if you want to mix it properly, start by limiting the mofo. Turn it down or somethin.

@Danimal The structure seems good. It may just be the headphones I'm wearing but I think some more sub bass would be good on some of the basses the deep mid one seems to have enough but the others are lacking.

@JockMCPlop Very nice concept and the percussion is great. I think some movement or breaks in the bass would be good as its just full on for ages which means it has almost no impact after it starts

@wewuk listened to madness, that percussion is brilliant, really liked the basses too. Very nice work

@Pain Table I liked the first drop section, the last bit wasn't as good imo. Work on the structure a bit and mix it and it should be great :W:

Going out now so I've uploaded what I've done today

@Brothulhu: good atmosphere man the tail on the snare i think is perfect! sub seems a bit off to me. i think you need to change the attack or EQ out the higher frequency coz its got some sub harmonics or something going on at the start of each note? dont know if you can hear it?
@Danimal: nice percussion on this. like the groove going on at the start of the drop. think you need to EQ and compress your kick a bit more coz it seems to be lost under your synths. Snare needs to come up a bit in the mix too. hope that helps.
@ Pain Table: now those are some drums! very beefy. snare is sick. drop sounds good. but think you could use with maybe adding one more synth in to shake it up a bit! 2nd drop seems way different. dont know if that was intentional. decent mix. keep it up!
@wewuk: sick sub. nice and warm with a slight touch of top end. stabs are massive! and that horn thing....big! incidentals are nice. good mix. look forward to the finished thing!
@mthrfnk: mate you're really improving alot. cant wait for your EP!

New track for the EP i'm working on. i know the build up needs work. i think i need to extend it into a 16bar section. there might be vocals going over this one. still a bit unsure over the drop arrangement. feedback appreciated as always!

filtersnake-That skip sound isnt that great around 1:03. But the drop sounds good, maybe a little atmosphere because it sounds a little empty in spots. Also, maybe work on the intro a bit, it was a little too harsh for me. Track has a good vibe and seemed to be mixed well, overall good job.

brothulhu- the vibe of this is great. The rising sound of the sample creates a feeling of dread. This vibe is great, and that sub hits well. Percussion is nice, but maybe you might want to pan the shakers a bit l/r for more movement.

Danimal- Nice use of those synths. Drop feels a little too long, also you kind of went right into it. The middle section with the panning synths worked well. The second drop was a lot better IMO then the first. Mix is pretty good though, you're heading in the right direction.

JockMCPlop- The intro is too long, you could have started it around :45 and not really lost anything. The vocals arent annoying or anything, they are mixed well. The percussion is on point, the ambience is the best part of this track. Good Job

This WIP is unlike anything I've ever done. It's upbeat. Damn near bouncy. Anyway, it needs alot of work and I'd love to hear what you guys think about it.

Hi guys, apologies in advance for this rant, especially since I told people to leave it out before but I think this is for the benefit of the forum. I came here for feedback as a newbie and what I got was things like 'yeah i like this track' and 'really minimalistic sounding track'. Not very useful guys-I know it's minimalistic, I made it, that's just stating a fact! Sorry but if this is going to be a useful forum try and give specific pros and cons of the songs-u don't need to be a technical whiz with words to do this, nor a big time producer-I'm not but I still tried to give HELPFUL feedback. Hope this improves in the future, for now, I'm out

@goochrock
listening now
i feel like the intro is a little long...
The piano sound is nice, especially the processed sound you use later on...
I feel like you could do a little more with the bass, maybe layer something in the mid range. The sub could come down a little, or try filtering some harmonics out. Theres a sound with a fast delay that starts at 2:35, i find it annoying, but that might just be me. Maybe it could come down in the mix a bit or something, but it seems to stick out a bit.
That lead synth at 4.00 is wicked... The end section is my favourite, some lovely sounds going on there...

One last thing, you are more likely to get feedback if you use the [/soundcloud] option in the full message editor, instead of using the quick reply. It makes it easier, because when people leave feedback, they listen to all the tunes while they are typing, so they can just keep one window open while they do the whole thing.

@Houston Weather
hell yeah. this is groovy. love that high synth at 1:10. great work with the hihat - im jealous ;-). when stuff started to get crazy at the end, i just about exploded. that was awesome.
more critically, that synth that plays through most of the song, (the one jammin out at 1:46) sounds like it needs a cut somewhere around 800ish. sounds like a detuned bee if im focusing on it. :P
cool track.

@filtersnake
woah. that lead is intense. Cool drop but just a little over the edge at 1:01. that stutter is a little too much. more low end on the fill at 1:11? very cool.

@brothulu
cool vocal in the intro. the sub is really givin my brain a massage. so relaxing - i love it. love the clicking panned left too. reminds me of (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8hsuVs0bdA).

@danimal
cool vocal. synth at :28 is awesome, but the one that follows it (at :31) is a little to detuned sounding. nice sounding hats. crisp and flowing along. Try turning the drop lead up just a little bit. its sounds too nice to leave it in the background.

@wewuk
madness
wow. never been this impressed by this kind of thing. great percussion, great bass. a little repetative, but i dont know that it even matters too much. if you do want to give it more variation, you could try doing more stuff like the switch at 3:53. 'twas pretty flawless.

circe
damn nice sub. sweet soundscape as well as percussion hits. damn you are good. ooh those high wubs that kick in at 1:09. More high end on the snare could be nice. loved the sub dropping out at 2:04.
crazy good tracks.

@goochrock13
damn, sorry i couldnt give you more useful feedback. your intro was too long, so i stated as such (a plenty useful comment). your track was too minimalistic for me to be qualified to make any further comments on your track. so i also stated as such. you were the 6th person i responded to in that post, i figured any amount of feedback was better than none at all.
trying to make some better comments on your piece - the reverb in the intro sounds a touch muddy. the piano sounds fantastic. the high drum that kicks in after the piano is a little too upfront/loud (at 3:32 also). not a fan of the detuned vocal, but it works. i like it when it hits that higher note though. cool tone on the bass at 4:19

heres mine again. added a lot more to the end, made transitions smoother (hopefully)

this last page is eh.. we need more heads to give crits instead of new producers strokin egos.

pain table- your intro synth has to much reverb it just sounds so damn muddy. the hats have a nice groove. the kick build is generic. the vocals are to quick, has no time to give it a "drop" feeling. the synth gets old after a while.. its just predictable. the last part riding into the second drop sounds better then 3/4 of the song then you bring in your synth. im also referring to your first post at the top of the page.

wewuk- i like the sample choices, nice and clean. the reverb on the snare sample is nice. i like the low down on it. it doesn't sit super high above everything. the delay/pan effect on the percussion is nicely built, you can tell you really paid attention to crafting a nice beat which is good. overall its still lacking atmosphere to give it the well rounded fullness. i dont care much for the synth stabs that blare out of no where but thats just me. pretty sure I hear some of my samples in there, props.

danimal- the beeps are nicely panned and put together in the intro. that snare pops pretty nice. the synth really doesn't go with the beat though, kinda sounds rushed and all over the place. more tinkering needed. the arp that comes in is nice and i like how you use it to play off the vocals, the kick build kinda comes off as Hey ive head this a 1000 times, you just get sick of it after a while and your second drop is impacted by it for sure.

brothulu- im a sucker for vox in intros like this. just hits a nice space for me. the reverb tail on that pop in the intro is lush. the low vocals saying help me im not so sure about, i think if you take those out and just play off your pads it would be nicer. coming into your song it would benefit more to leave a little space instead of filling it vocals, i fight myself all the time doing this but i realize its necessary. being a WIP its nice and has a lot of potential for a nice slow riding vibe.

filtersnake- intro is alright, a little crammed together. sounds better then a lot of this style i hear repeatedly.. you mesh your sounds together and you keep the flow up instead of riding the same wob and wubs and skees and scahhhs the whole song. reminds me a lot of helicopter showdown.

houston- toooo much delay on that crash and then it just cuts off completely. the beat is rather funky for sure. the percussion is nice. and love the clave sample thrown in, the synth is a little weird when it first comes in. and i really think the second synth sounds a lot better but the notes you are playing kill it. keep that upbeat vibe going instead of killing it. just really seems like one of those songs thrown in a set to fill up some space. not saying its a bad song at all, just saying if you go back and rework it you may be happier with it.

pain table again - kick is lacking in the intro and a lot of battles going on, still no space for the drop. synth still gets pretty repetitive for me and you really dont know hold a groove with it. i do like the high pass on the mini build at 1.31 but it gets back into that same repetitiveness. second part of the song sounds like a completely different song.

ill post up a WIP after im done tweaking.

@jackmcplop-thank u for that. very useful feedback, i appreciate it!

@paintable ^that last piece of feedback is excellent, so your first attempt was probably just rushed! It shouldn't matter whether it's your preferred type of track or a genre you know lots about (everyone on here inevitably ends up reviewing stuff that's not to their taste), you clearly are capable of giving solid feedback regardless so thanks

@JockMCPlop

I may be wrong as I'm at work and laptop speakers aren't great, but I really didn't feel like I was moving through the track. The percs were awesome and I love the vibe, but other than the last bar I just kinda felt too looped.

@Pain Table
http://soundcloud.com/eyen/faces
Around 3:50 I felt like there should be some downsweeping atmosphere after the rev hit that kind of releases up in to the wobble a bit. In the first main I'd like to hear some of that higher pitch lead break through in some of the wobble breaks, sounds pretty good. I'm liking it.

@Houston Weather
http://soundcloud.com/houstonweather/wizzy-f-baby
Up until around 2:40 I felt like it was missing something in the high range. Maybe I could get more of that lead in earlier? :)
http://soundcloud.com/houstonweather/be ... gan-oneill
Definitely agree with that comment around 28 sec's, felt like there was going to be something there. I dunno if it really needs to be lyrics, but ... something? The whole track, even without that, I'm feelin'.

While I'm listening to everybody's stuff I figured I'd throw my most recent WIP on here up to break. Percs are in midi form right now so be forgiving. Everything else you can be blunt about :lol:

Sorry about it taking so long for me to comment, but again, I'm at work :(

I thought about making a new topic with clearly laid out rules and a better title, then getting wub to sticky it instead of this one. Thoughts?

@Blak- I think the Intro need's to be slower so the vibe get's fully instilled! you need to go easy with your sounds and work on your mixing because this could be really good the idea's are there but it's not really crisp or anything! keep at it!

@JockMCPlop -Same as above take your time to bring in your elements make it so we can memorize each hits and stuff! I think it's a quite good track you have there man just put in some more finishing touch on it! Maybe work a tad on the second drop bass to clean it and give it more warmth aswell!

@Houston Weather Nice Percussions but they need to be cleaned so they pop out more! not a fan at all of your synth work i think you need to work alot more on the melodies and the sounds themselves it's sometimes dissonant.

here's my track

thanks for the feedback guys!

@Globalz - http://soundcloud.com/the-holy-1/the-holy-waiting
Absolutely loved the rim shot(?). I think soundcloud screwed me though, only got three minutes of it. The only thing I would do personally is move some of those bass hits like 1/64 or 1/32 over. Around 1:21 and 1:30 are couple of examples. I like the off-beat thing, but it just seemed too off maybe ... really the only thing I could come up with for this as far as critique. Awesome.

And thank you very much for the feedback, I really didn't want a long intro, but it definitely felt like I was cramming too much in to 32 bars, and a whole lot of mixing to come :corntard:

@oprs - http://soundcloud.com/seven3/666-bit-gamers-anthem
:015 I feel like that hit should be warped out and elongated. :55 "Nintendo!" I love it, wanna hear it more. Maybe loaded up to Impulse or something similar. Not diggin' the horn :( Maybe down an octave I might like it? Can you sample the dog laugh from duck hunt and toss that in to one of those breaks? Those were the days ... Speaking of which I definitely like the breaks I get and how quickly and smoothly it gets back in to it. Like it.

@filtersnake - http://soundcloud.com/gndrtr0n/imaginat ... v3/s-Jo3JJ
Blown away by this drop at :58. Not in the face instant, but definitely not slow, just right and a superfluous transition :corndance: From 0:00 to 0:04 I felt there was maybe a bit much ambience, had to turn my speakers down :|

I ended up throwing a bit crusher on the horn giving it some more grit, and im grabbin samples at the moment. ill find the dog asap. :Q:
