I would like to see a lot more workflow improvements (they've done some with the folder/browse area). Having favourite destinations would be a good one. I have constant problems with copying automation.etc. from one track to another - only seems to work half the time (and I own a legit version, have done for a while). A revisited UI in general would be nice - still has the same crappy UI that it first came out with. Support for mp3 would be a boon - can't believe they still don't have it.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great they're working on the next release - but considering Live 8 was released late 2009 - and we're almost 2013 - 4 years for this? What the hell have they been doing? Really... In that time we've had a number of new DAWs that really pack some modern punch, such as Reaper & Sonar X1 which take a modern approach to production. I think Ableton has been lazy, tbh.
the fact that you can beat-box into a DAW and it automatically reads the harmonics of your voice and places them into a midi clip with accurate precision doesn't impress you even a bit?

Also I think their move for a Push controller is stupid from a business pov. AKAI Is a huge partner and helps to push their products, they're stepping on some big toes. They should have worked with them rather than do it themselves. Not to mention that NI has a far more superior product in the form of Maschine.

@Perej - I wasn't aware of that feature, and that is pretty cool - but in all honesty it has zero relevance for me - I don't beatbox. hehe
160 bpm roller - for all the skankas.

it's not beatboxing it's everything. If you put in a drum loop it will automatically detect what each drum is and appropriately chop it up in midi exactly as it is in the audio. Put in a sample of a piano and it will tell you straight away the keys and chords etc. Amazing stuff tbh.

That is pretty neat. Bye-bye ear-based production :P

But the Push is being made by AKAI...? Unless you meant Novation?
Designed by Ableton, built by Akai: Push features 64 pressure and velocity-sensitive RGB (multi-colored) pads with an adaptive layout, plus a touch strip with 24 LEDs for pitch bending or navigating through a drum rack. 11 touch-sensitive endless encoders and a four line LCD display adapt dynamically to control and show instrument and effect parameters.
And I don't see how having Live auto convert mp3's to wav's is a big deal when you drag them in, it literally adds no time to the process.

Okay, I'm being proven wrong on a few things here... damnit. My attempt at anti-ableton sentiment is coming to a close...

Attila - no I was referring to the ability to export tunes as mp3. It's a small thing, but a thing nonetheless when all other DAWs support it. heh

I'm definitely going to consider buying Push. I just hope bitwig releases before 9 so I don't blow my wad on Push plus 9 and regret it.

Gotcha man. Yeah I agree on exporting though, it'd be nice to be able to export it as both simultaneously.

Right this whole beatbox to midi thing has been available to logic pro users since version 9 around 2 years ago.

Even the music note detection. Turning your recorded audio to midi and sampler has only been a right click away for logic.

There is a similar feature in Ableton. (slice to midi or something like this).

Am I the only one fniding this posts "Please make Ableton a Logic Pro look-alike!!! it's 2013 goddamit" really annoying?
One screen, no-bullshit UI, simple features : this is how I like Ableton. I'm happy they stay this way.

Hit up the flex time! then right click audio to new sampler instrument. or use the drum replacer i think.
For the musical notes, open the audio into the audio editor and goto function -> audio to score.

In a few years, every single 'music production' tool will be released right before christmas..
and written off the next year around the same time.
NI is doing the same thing imo.

Ah that's cool, but Ableton is way faster than Logic regardless.
